Robert Triptow

Address: San Francisco, CA
E-Mail: rtriptow@pacbell.net

Robert Triptow's first real taste of journalism was experiencing the Watergate scandal while working in a Salt Lake City newsroom, which helped turn him off as a reporter but gave him a proper '70s cynic ism. He ran away to the California dream and there became equally realistic about the gay community and then Hollywood. In the '80s he returned to his '70s love, underground cartooning, and edited Gay Comix, as well as co-editing the book Strip AIDSU.S.A. The recipient of San Diego Comics Con and Lambda Literaryawards, Triptow claims the title of the Last of the Haight/Ashbury Cartoonists, with work appearing in Real Girl, Juicy Mother, Young Lust, Bizarre Sex and Spastic Culture. Robert is happily domesticated in San Francisco and wonders which will happen first: that screenplay deal the completion of his latest book or being able to fit into his old bellbottoms.
