The purpose of this book is not to persuade anyone that the paranormal or the demonic are real. Instead, this book tells the story of an extreme paranormal researcher, his interactions with the paranormal world, and the researcher that documented a paranormal experiment we conducted in June, July, and August of 2017 regarding the entity known as Zozo, or the Ouija board demon. In the course of this experiment multiple techniques were attempted, parameters were changed, and rules were broken on a daily basis.
All the Ouija session and EVP recordings related in this book can be found on video on the LiveSciFi YouTube channel. Those videos are clearly identified by date, and easily found online. The interactions related between Tim and the entity he was communicating with have been taken word for word from those livestreamed, unedited videos. These communications have not been enhanced either in the book or the videos, and are presented as straightforwardly as possible, directly from the transcripts of each session. Some personal experiences of both authors occurred well before the ease of filming we enjoy today and cannot be substantiated, and therefore are subjective accounts. Several shared experiences with corroborating witness accounts are shared as well. And of course, every LiveSciFi broadcast has been watched by thousands, sometimes millions of viewers so you can take a look and judge for yourself.
We emphatically implore you not to try anything discussed in this book yourself.
Challenging or taunting malevolent entities is a dangerous, risky business. Some of the information is disturbing, and profanity is not redacted. The people in this book are adults, and speak as such. The authors combined have decades of experience dealing with the paranormal, and by the end of this experiment they were rattled. This is a true story, a real life paranormal experiment gone wrong.
Read at your own risk.
Chapter One
July 15, 2017 4:30 a.m. EST
My phone started to ring right as I pick it up. I dont need caller ID to know who it is on the other end. LiveSciFis livestream broadcast on YouTube has just ended abruptly, and LSFs founder and lead investigator, Tim Wood, was calling me.
As soon as I picked up the phone, Tim blurted, Celina, I cant do this anymore. I cant keep poking this thing. Its showing up everywhere.
I know, I said as calmly as possible, which still wasnt all that calm. I agree. You need to close out that session, sage the hell out of that place, and get out of there.
I should never have started doing this. Now its showing up in all my EVPs. Its got a way into me, Celina. I just was doing a broadcast and I lost ten minutes of time.
Yes, you did. You were looking into the scrying mirror and just saying, Zozo. Zozo. Over and over. Thats why I called and let it ring once. I wanted to snap you out of it.
Thats the only reason I did, he said soberly. Celina, that thing that fell on me? It was a drape. It was nailed to the wall with three nails. That thing didnt fall; it was pulled down on top of me.
Tim isnt normally like this. Usually, he takes the paranormal with an easygoing kind of acceptance, refusing to give into the temptation to show fear to any entity. But the past month has been different. Since June 21, Tims been conducting an experiment with almost nightly live broadcasts, all centered around the same thing.
Contact with Zozo, the Ouija board demon.
Hes added trigger objects and taken them away. Hes changed the parameters of the experiment to see how that affected the interaction. Hewewanted to see if Zozo was a real entity or if it was something created subconsciously, either by the investigator or the viewers. What we found was shocking. Terrifying, in fact. So much so that we were both experiencing backlash from the experiment even though I was in Ohio and he was in California.
Over the course of that month, the Ouija sessions became more intense. The EVPs Tim got during those sessions grew clearerand more negative. Tim began to experience paranormal activity in his home. We both had severe nightmares, bizarre incidents, and I got the definite impression that something didnt want me to write this book.
Tim and I share a character trait. Were both stubborn. If someone tells us we cant do something, we usually find a way to do it anyway. During the Zozo experiment, we both hit points beyond which we didnt want to go. Tims came on that sultry July night when he didnt remember what he did during his live show. Mine came a few days later, when a series of loud knocks followed me from room to room in my house while I was working on this book, literally chasing me and my laptop around. When I gave up on writing for the night, the knocks moved under the bed where my sleeping husband and I were lying.
But during that unusually hot summer of 2017, Tim Wood and I had a shared experience with the Zozo entity that changed the way we both thought of it. We were both researching the entity in our different ways, and we were sharing our findings with each other while broadcasting the experiment live to tens of thousands of people worldwide. We thought we were stalking demons.
Imagine our surprise when it turned out to be the other way around.
Ive had a lifelong interest in the paranormal. I grew up in a small Tennessee city called Clarksville, which is less than twenty miles from one of the most notorious and well-documented American hauntingsthe Bell Witch case in Adams, Tennessee. The land around Adams has been haunted since the early 1800s, and I began to investigate the haunting in 1987.
The Bell Witch haunting is no joke. I was in college when I began to poke around in Adams, sucked into the adrenaline surge that always washed over me when I witnessed something that could not be explained. I just wanted to see somethingyou know, that same curiosity that convinced you to buy this book. I wanted to touch something otherworldly, and that curiosity put me into the path of a malicious entity on the old Bell farman entity that answered questions on my cassette recorder, turned out all the lights on me in the middle of the Bell Witch cave, piled rocks into the drivers seat in my locked car, and slammed an immense, heavy iron-barred gate shut right behind me as I left the cave one night.
Once youve opened the door to the paranormal, it never shuts completely.
