The pages of To Dance With Angels hold a key to the meaning of life on planet Earth and all that lies beyond, revealed to the authors of this book, Don and Linda Pendleton, in clear and simple language, often with humor, and always with love, by one who has experienced it all. To Dance With Angels is structured around a series of in-depth interviews with spirit guide, Dr. James Martin Peebles through the trance-mediumship of Thomas Jacobson. Born in Vermont, Dr. Peebles lived from 1822-1922 and was a clergyman, physician, prolific author, leading Spiritualist and humanitarian of the 19th century. These conversations with Dr. Peebles from his home on the Other Side, are frequently startling, always entertaining and enlightening. They touch upon every facet of human and nonhuman experience: life and death, past and future lives, ghosts and guardian angels, world politics and cosmic realities, love and sexuality...and that is only the beginning. A must read for those interested in life after death and spirit communication. In 1990, Don and Linda Pendleton published the inspirational non-fiction book To Dance With Angels, now considered a classic in spiritual literature, and in this new edition nearly twenty five years after the book was originally written, Linda Pendleton has added a new Preface: Twenty-four Years Later. Acknowledgments

A manuscript is not abookit is little more than a hope and a promise, competing with thousands ofother manuscripts at any given momentso the authors warmly thank WalterZacharius and Roberta Grossman, chairman and publisher respectively atKensington/Zebra, for quickly seeing the promise of this work in its potentialeffect upon human affairs, and for moving boldly forward to make the workpublic.

And we could haveasked for no kinder hand from heaven than the one that sent us Lydia Paglio andAnn La Farge, our delightful editors, who brought forward enthusiastic hearts, great talents, and fine sensitivities to the material. Their contributions to the final shaping andpresentation have greatly enhanced the work and made the reading of strikingly differentmaterial far easier.

Of course our mostprofound thanks go to all of those named within the book who voluntarily steppedforward with direct contributions, putting aside their rightful veils ofprivacy in a purely selfless sharing of personal experiences and/orconvictions.

Special thanks alsomust be given to all the beautiful friends of spirit who facilitated ouraccess to printed and recorded material and provided warm support all along theway.

Our family tookpart in the endless discussions of spirit and spiritual psychology withopenmindedness and interest. CindyStephens Steele helped us transcribe miles of tape, allowing our more directlabors to move a little faster, and all gave unstintingly of moral andintellectual support. So our gratitudemust here be expressed to Bob and Cindy Steele, Eric and Frances Stephens, RoseAbrams, Michael and Jennifer Dalto, Stephen and Ellen Pendleton, Derek and ErinPendleton, and Jeff and Melinda Margulies for sharing our enthusiasm.

Thanks also to Josephand Susan for sharing some special moments with us.

The adventure hasbrought into our lives an ever-expanding circle of friends, and each has touchedour lives in very special ways. Wedespecially like to mention the gang from the Gathering Place: Connie, Mark,Doug, Steve, Nita, Sue, Susan, Sally, Maria, Jay, Pamela, Summer, Lionel,Henrietta, Danielle, Lee, Carol, Gary, Jefferson, Arnette, Jack, and all theothers with whom we pleasurably interacted over the months.

And we send bighugs to our friends on the spirit side for their inspiration and directcommunication, without which the book would not have been written.

Introduction to theTerrestrial Dr. Peebles

: A New Hope

Itis often difficult for me to realize that it has been twenty-one years since ToDance With Angels was first published. Our book was written in 1987 and we celebrated the hardcover publicationin August of 1990.

Overthese nearly twenty-five years, some things have changed, some have not.

Lifeis never static, although we often think of it in that way. Time moves on, and change takes place. The wise Dr. Peebles, who you will learn alot about in our book, often told us from his home on the spirit side thatchange is inevitable and much of the pain we experience in life may be becausewe resist change instead of embracing it and allowing ourselves to flow withit. He also tells us that embracingchange is what spiritual growth is all about.
