Highball glass is a tall straight glass considered a go-to glass for most cocktails. Gin-and-tonics and Long Island iced teas are served in a highball glass. This is slim, tall, and just plain straight sides. This can hold 10 to 12 ounces of cocktail drink.

Old-fashioned glass is a kind of chunky glass.

Collins glass is a tall narrow glass with straight sides. This looks similar to a highball, but is only skinnier and taller. This kind of glass is generally used for cocktails that are juice-based. This helps keep the drinks colder for a longer period of time without the need to add too much ice. This can hold around 14 to 16 ounces of cocktail drink.

Hurricane Glass - this can hold 20 ounces of liquid and looks like a hurricane lantern. This glass is mainly used when serving Hurricane cocktails and other tropical drinks, like Pina Coladas.

Cocktails are a diverse range of mixed drinks and are categorized based on the main spirit used.

Gin Cocktails

These types of cocktail drinks contain gin as the main spirit. Gin comes from juniper berries and is considered to be stronger than other spirits.

The following are considered to be the most common and popular gin cocktails:

Gimlet - this is made by adding lime juice, poured over ice, and then stirred.

Gibson commonly served like a martini, but is made with dry vermouth and cocktail onions.

Dirty martini this is made by adding dry vermouth and olive brine. The liquids are shaken, poured, and strained into martini glasses. You may also add olive-skewered on a toothpick prior to serving.

Gin and Tonic - this is served in a lowball glass and is made by mixing two alcohol drinks together.

Gin madras - served in a lowball glass and is made with cranberry and orange juice poured over some ice.

Gin fizz - made with carbonated water, sugar, and lemon juice. This is served in a highball glass and is poured over ice.
