THE RING OF THE NIBELUNG
A Scandinavian and Germanic legend, The Ring of the Nibelung recounts the adventures of Sigurd (or Siegfried), who is described as an intrepid Viking or valiant knight, depending on the era. After vanquishing the dragon Fafnir, he becomes the invincible bearer of a magic ring forged by dwarves. Siegfried refuses to listen to their warnings that the ring is cursed and arouses humans greed, leading them to ruin. This myth inspired Richard Wagners opera by the same name, as well as a certain J. R. R. Tolkiens The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Baba Yaga, a character from Slavic folklore, knows and sees everything. How can you recognize her? It couldnt be simpler! One day she is an old and cantankerous sorceress, the next a charming young lady. She becomes old each time someone asks her a question but becomes young again by drinking a tea made from blue roses. Baba Yaga lives in a hut set atop two chicken legs that takes her wherever she wants to go, travels crouched inside a magic cooking pot, but is careful to cover her tracks using a silver birch broom.
