Introduction
THE 206 IS KNOWN FOR ITS CHRONIC RAIN, coffee drinking, and Nirvana head-banging, but the food scene here is a little slice of heaven. What was once a slowerpaced grungy city is now a fastmoving, techbooming metropolis. Home to powerhouses like Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, and Nordstrom, theres now a huge hipster/techie population that commands a city with toptier dining options, from dive bars to elegant multicourse dinner spots. The bountiful Pacific Northwest is made up of water, mountains, and lush green lands, which are ideal for farming, meaning weve been about that farmtotable life long before it became an overused buzzword. Seattles found its niche in highlighting the special ingredients that are produced in our unique climate, from (literally) boatloads of fresh seafood to the juiciest Washington apples to locally foraged mushrooms and our famous Rainier cherries. The list of foods we do best goes on and on.
A longtime thriving port city (dating back to 1851), Seattle has welcomed people from all around the world who bring with them their unique food traditions, which have shaped Seattle into one of the most diverse and dynamic food cultures in the United States. While always on the forefront of trends, theres plenty of exciting places for you to hit, but dont miss out on classics like Pike Place Chowder and our favorite burgers from Dicks Drive-In. Each neighborhood has something different to offer, and these little pieces make up the puzzle that is the beautiful (and delicious) city of Seattle. Im stoked to be your guide as we eat our way through these neighborhoods and their killer restaurants. Well slurp oysters by the dozen at Westward, tackle a tableful of tapas at Pintxo, and indulge in enormous slices of cake at Deep Sea Sugar & Salt in Georgetown. To show you exactly what your experience would look like, Ive shot this book entirely on my iPhone. Now its your turn to explore Seattle, one shameless food photo at a time!

Capitol Hill
What The Hipsters Eat
FOREVER HOME OF THE GORGEOUS GAYS, CAPITOL HILL is the queen of Seattle. This energetic neighborhood is stacked with super-hip bars, eateries, java houses, and gay clubs, with no shortage of tech nerds or moody hipsters. During the day, people bop around the endless blocks of Capitol Hill (always with coffee in hand) checking out its boutiques, salons, parks, bookstores, and, on Sunday, the Broadway Farmers Market. But truth be told, this neighborhood really comes alive at night. Known for being the epicenter of the citys music (the birthplace of the grunge movement), entertainment, and art scene, this is the place for living out loud. I mean, this neighborhood is so cool it even has its own music festival. Every July, locals and visitors flock to these rainbow-painted streets for the Capitol Hill Block Party studded with big names and artists native to Seattle. Capitol Hill on the weekend defines lit" -and at times, its too lit. But if youre looking for a good time, this neighborhood really is your spot. Just beware of blacked-out college kids and armies of chicks who cant handle their booze.
