About the Author
Andy Rathbone started geeking around with computers in 1985 when he bought a 26-pound portable CP/M Kaypro 2X. Like other nerds of the day, he soon began playing with null-modem adapters, dialing computer bulletin boards, and working at Radio Shack.
He wrote for various techie publications before moving to computer books in 1992. Hes written the Windows For Dummies series, Upgrading and Fixing PCs For Dummies, TiVo For Dummies, PCs: The Missing Manual, and many other computer books.
Today, he has more than 15 million copies of his books in print, and theyve been translated into more than 30 languages. You can reach Andy at his website, www.andyrathbone.com , where he answers a readers question online each week.
When not geeking around with consumer electronics, Andy plays ukulele and tries to remember the songs he learned last week.

Introduction
W elcome to motorola XOOM For Dummies, your look-it-up-and-find-it guide to the Motorola Xoom tablet.
Your Motorola Xoom crosses the boundary between smartphone and netbook, giving you a large but lightweight screen on which to display all your books, magazines, newspapers, movies, and digital photos.
When youre not buried in your media, your Motorola Xoom also lets you keep tabs on your friends through video chats, e-mail, Twitter streams, and Facebook updates.
This book helps you do all that and more with either a Wi-Fi Xoom or a Xoom with a data plan.
The official name of the tablet in your hands is the MOTOROLA XOOM. I occasionally refer to it that way, but mostly, I call it the Xoom.
About This Book
Like all For Dummies books, this book is a reference. Dont bother trying to read it from cover to cover. Instead, flip to the chapter or section that contains the information you need at the time, follow the steps to accomplish your task, and then put the book aside and get back to work. These tasks, for example, are explained clearly, each in its own section:
