Pokmon Sun and Moon are finally here after such a long wait, in the US at least, so it's time for you to gear up and start getting into the nitty gritty of getting the most you can out of your Poke friends and the new awesome game. Whether or not you buy Sun or Moon, I can assure you that there are plenty of tips and tricks you can use to to make your Pokmon much stronger and your journey way more interesting - or just plenty of secrets to know that you can boast about to your mates. Weve put together a interesting basic guide to help you get you started for Pokmon Sun and Moon, divided into easy sections to keep things accessible.

Battling Pokmon repeatedly is helpful

Now we definitely know that battling the same Pokmon over and over again can be a bit of a bore at times, but in Pokmon Sun and Moon you actually gain some great advantage from fighting the same Pokmon over and over again. That's so because you now get the indicators on how effective each of your Pokmon's moves will be against that foe if youve ever battled them before. Their effectiveness ranges from "super effective" through to "not very effective" and even "no effect", especially when you're battling a Ghost Type Pokmon.

It's especially useful when you've got to face a more powerful version of something you've seen earlier, so please keep a close eye on those indicators.

Check your Pokmon's stat effects mid-battle

You need to know that there is another tweak Pokmon Sun and Moon have made to battling is being able to check the stats of any of your Pokmon mid-battle. You might even want to check the evasiveness of your Pokmon, whether its attack has been affected or your defense or any of the other stats of your Pokmon.

Well, you can now easily do this mid-battle by just tapping the little replica of your Pokmon in the center of the battle screen. It's here that all your Pokmon's stats will now start showing up along with indicators as to the effected stats. I can guarantee you that It's incredibly useful as it will definitely affect the way your Pokmon battles, so now you may need to eventually switch them out or even use an X Attack or something.

Scan some QR codes

There's a awesome new feature thats is somewhere hidden in the menu that can let you scan QR codes that you find in the real world to unlock non-Alolan Pokmon in your game and catch Poke friends like Chameleon in Pokmon Sun and Moon. You need to know that each QR code you scan will definitely give you the info you want on any Pokmon that you can't usually find in Alola . Be mindful that every ten you scan, you can easily run an "island scan", and it will definitely spawn any one of those Pokmon into the islands. We've had a really great success by doing this around the first island, catching critters like Chikorita and Bulbasaur.

Don't expect to see non-Alolan variants

Sadly it may have seems that you can't natively catch the original versions of Alolan Pokmon in Pokmon Sun and Moon. You need to know that although some trainers will have them to battle against you, including the normal version of Vulpix, but we haven't ever seen them anywhere in the game. And trust us, we've looked.

Not all Z-Moves are equal

All the Z-Moves that you can unlock with the Z-Crystals you will get as you successfully complete it, Trials aren't all as powerful as each other. So please try them out preferably on some wild critters; dont forget to take the time and work out which ones are best for your team and then just work accordingly.

Just don't be surprised if some of them aren't one hit KOs.

Alola

Change Oricorio's type using nectar from each island

Oricorio is brand new Pokmon for just Pokmon Sun and Moon and it's kind of like a package deal.

Catch one of these new feathery friends and you actually get four Pokmon in one. You should also bare in mind that each island is home to a certain color of nectar, and giving any of the nectar samples you find to Oricorio actually changes its Type and behavior, this simple means that you just can adapt it to every major battle before you start your rounds of fighting.

Collect the green floating flecks

All around Alola there are many floaty green flecks that are just lingering behind buildings, near bushes and rocks and other different locations. You need to look keenly out of your eye and Watch out for them and please try to collect every single one that you can find because they're not snot bubbles, instead they are actually Zygarde cells that you can easily use to create your very own Pokmon anytime you want. As most of you will probably know from Pokmon X & Y, Zygarde tends to be a quite and very special Pokmon that comes in many various Forms according to the amount of Zygarde Cores and Zygarde Cells you have. Zygarde Cores tends to act as the brains of Zygarde while on the other hand the Zygarde Cells will decide what Zygarde's Forme will be - 10%, 50% or 100%. The more Zygarde Cells you collect around Alola, is the bigger the Form you can easily create and the more moves you can get to teach it. So please start on the move and get on collecting them.
