Theprocess of learning a foreign language can be complicated. Howcomplicated the process is may be governed on many factors.

These factors include:

some people are better at learninglanguages than the others.

different people have different amounts of timeand money they can spend use towards their studies.

learning a language just for funand by your own will is always easier than learning it out of anecessity.

havingfamily members who speak the language you're learning, as well asthe ability to visit the country of its origin will also make theprocess easier.

All languages are different and there areproprietary methods and techniques for learning each languagefaster. For example, English has methods that won't work forJapanese and so forth.

However, there are some universal techniquesthat can help you learn any foreign language faster. Thesetechniques work for all languages, and they work even better whencombined with the proprietary learning techniques of eachlanguage.

These universal methods are described in thisguide, and the sooner you start using them, the quicker you willsee results. The methods described will help those who have juststarted to learn a new language, as well as those who are alreadywell into their studies. The following methods will prove to beespecially valuable and helpful if you're on a tight schedule anddon't have several years to spend on learning a new language.

The tips from this guide are not the ones thatwill give you instant gratification they will increase the speedof learning any language significantly, but they work only as longas they are used properly. The more of them you combine, and thesooner you start implementing them, the faster you will learn.

The first thingyou'll need to do is to surround yourself with the language.Language and cultural immersion is very important in fact, it'sthe most important factor in your studies.

If you're unable to relocate to the languagescountry of origin while you're studying, or there are nonative-speakers around that you can communicate with, there arestill some things you can do to create a helpful languageenvironment around you. Let's have a look at them.

One of the easiest way to immerse yourself intoa language is to start listening to songs and watching movies inthat language.

You can start listening to music right away just get some music of your favorite genre, and listen to itwhenever you can. This will help you in three ways, youll findyourself:

Subconsciously learning the rightpronunciation;

Remembering some grammar patterns and theiruse;

Recognizing foreign speech better.

One of the best things about music is that itdoesn't require any extra time or concentration. Music works at asubconscious level, teaching you while you are busy doing otherthings.

Its better to start with cartoons for childrenif you choose to use movies and media as an educational tool, asthey have the easiest language and the clearest pronunciation. Asyou become more experienced, you can proceed to more complicatedmovies simply watch them in the original language withsubtitles.

Movies will work in the same manner as music;they will educate you and keep you relaxed at the same time. Isuggest you refrain from watching language education videos, asthey are too boring and it simply makes it impossible for your mindto engage the content in a relaxed and natural manner.

Keep in mind that you need to keep movingforward with the language. Stop watching cartoons as soon as you'reable to watch movies with real actors, because cartoon charactersdon't really articulate words with their lips, and their speech ismuch harder to understand.

The Internet can be anexcellent resource for language learning. Apart from using variousonline dictionaries and downloading materials for your studies,there are two things you need to do to master a new languagefaster: blog and chat.

Blogging is extremely popular now, and you cancreate a free blog within minutes. Blogging in a new language willhelp you in the following ways:

You'll learn to express your thoughts in a newlanguage more clearly;

You'll memorize new words better, as they willbe used and there's no better way to memorize words andexpressions than using them in sentences of your own;

Youll be able to show your blog to some nativespeakers of the language you learn, so they point out yourmistakes, give you some good advice and encourage you to blogfurther. People usually like when foreigners are trying to learntheir native language, and they will often times try to besupportive and helpful.

One of the most popular blogging services todayis Twitter; the posts there are only 140 characters long, no longerthan an SMS, so it will be very easy to write short twits in aforeign language. Your first blog posts will be very simple, butthey'll become more and more complicated as you study.

Chatting with native speakers is also veryhelpful, especially if you don't have around to talk to. Not onlywill it help you to learn the language better, but you'll also beable to make some new buddies and ask them for help with yourstudies.

Learning aforeign language is a good chance to start a hobby or to make yourexisting hobbies more prolific.

Look for some foreign forums and communitieswhere people share the same hobbies as yours. Not only will you beable to discuss and share experiences, but you'll also get goodlanguage practice. You are also more than likely to get some goodadvice concerning both your hobby and your language.

Some people preferto make flash cards when learning a language. Simply write aforeign word on one side of the card, and its translation on theflip side. Your flash cards can be taken anywhere and reviewed fromtime to time they're supposed to help students memorize the newwords better.

However, memorizing separate words won't do youmuch good in the long run. There's no point in remembering dozensof words if you're not using them. This card method is rather hardand time consuming, and it's not nearly as effective as havingconversations. Conversations allow you to learn and use new wordsand phrases, making it easier to remember in a contextual way.

But still you can make some cards with foreignwords if it will be helpful. The idea is to make them correctly andkeep them handy, you might have some free time to do a little extrastudying.

oThey should contain a number of words relatedto a specific topic. For example, you can write down some computerterms and place card on your computer desk.

oYou can place topical cards around the house ofoffice, just make sure they are related to the area you are in.

oCurrent cards can contain words you'll need forthe next lesson. Every lesson has its own vocabulary, and if you'reattending language courses, you will have to learn the requiredwords for your homework or tests.

oA card with current vocabulary can be carriedaround, and you can look them over when you have time. For example,while riding the bus or when waiting in a line; whenever you getthe time.
