How to become a Pro Meal Prep Step-By-Step
If youre new to meal prepping, it can be a little confusing to how you can get everything together for the whole week in about 2 hours or so. Well, Ill show you just what you have to do step-by-step to meal prep like a pro.
Step 1. Set aside time
When you prep for the week, it can take a few hours or an entire afternoon depending on how much youre planning to cook. So set a few hours aside to prep.
Step 2. Have the right set of containers ready
Trust me. Theres nothing worse than spending time cooking to then realize later that you only have two containers to put everything in or the ones you have are too small.
Purchase a set of containers that are all the same size to make it easy for you to divide food up for the week.
Youll also need to make sure that the prep containers are made of glass or plastic thats BPA-Free. Mason jars can be used for prepping salad since they will keep lettuce separate from the dressing.
Step 3. Plan out everything beforehand
Pick out what recipes youre going to make and how much you will need for the week (or for how long youre prepping for) before you start. This will make everything easier and save you so much time and energy.
Tip! Make sure you pick recipes you actually like since you will have the dish in your fridge/or freezer for a while.
Step 4. Create a grocery list & stick to it
Okay, youve selected the recipes for the week, now you have to buy everything. Once you hit the grocery store, only buy what you need, especially if youre purchasing produce since you dont want it to go bad quickly.
Sticking to your shopping list will keep foods from rotting away in your fridge and keep money in your pocket.
