Chapter 1: Drinks and Starters
1. Mannys Espresso
Manny loves his coffee. Jay is surprised that a young kid drinks coffee and asks him why he does it? Manny says hes Colombian and its in his culture. Manny adds quite a lot of sugar into his coffee. Jay tells him to add the espresso to the sugar instead.
Serving size:
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- cup coffee powder
- 2 cups water
- Sugar, if desired
- Lemon peel
Instructions:
1. Add coffee and water to a filter or a press.
2. Pour the coffee into espresso cups and mix sugar.
3. Twist the lemon peel and place it on top of the cup and serve.
2. Mango Kiwi Smoothie
Haley pretends to be a waitress to her parents to make them pay for her new car. She asks them what she can get for them. Claire says she wants an Iced Tea and Phil asks for the same. Alex says she wants a Mango and Kiwi Smoothie since she wants to look good riding in Haleys car.
Serving size:
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 small mangos
- 4 kiwis
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup cold yogurt
- Mint leaves
Instructions:
1. Add the yogurt, mangos, kiwi and sugar to a blender and blend till smooth.
2. Serve in a tall glass with a mint leaf on top.
3. Pina Delgado
Manny offers Joyce a Pina Delgado and calls it his creation. Joyce asks him whats in it and Manny says its sweet, cool and not scared to embrace its whimsy.
Serving size:
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 banana, peeled and chopped
- 1 teaspoon coconut extract
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- 1 mango, chopped
- 2 cups pineapple and apple juice
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
1. Add banana, mango and yogurt to a blender and blend till smooth.
2. Add the lime, pineapple and apple juice to a pitcher and mix.
3. Add in the banana and mango blend along with the coconut extract and mix.
4. Serve with a few ice cubes in a glass.
4. Soft-Boiled Eggs
Manny is surprised to find scrambled eggs in place of his favorite soft-boiled eggs. He tells Gloria she cant spring a surprise on him that way. Gloria tells him this isnt the biggest curveball life will throw at him.
Serving size: 3-4
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons pepper
- 2 tablespoons oil
Instructions:
1. Boil water in a pot and boil the eggs until hard.
2. Once cool, peel and cut them in half.
3. Place them on a plate and sprinkle with salt and pepper all over.
4. Add the oil to a pan and roast the eggs until crispy.
5. Serve hot.
5. Goat Cheese and Fig
One of Claires favorite dishes to make, Goat Cheese and Fig with Balsamic drizzle is as yummy as it sounds. Your guests are sure to love it!
Serving size:
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 12 ounces goat cheese
- 5 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 5 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Cut the goat cheese into inch cubes and place on a platter.
2. Mix the oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt and pepper together and drizzle over the cheese.
3. Sprinkle thyme leaves all over the cheese and serve.
6. Glorias Tequila
Although Luke and Manny get busted for drinking Tequila (Gloria switches it with water), you dont have to worry about getting busted sipping this delicious cocktail.

Ingredients:
- 1.5 ounces tequila
- 0.3 ounces grenadine
- 1 orange, juiced
