Introduction
Maybe we don't have replicators but we sure have fresh and delicious food. While we don't have alien food, we still can create remarkable dishes. All we need is a little bit of inspiration and willingness to spend some time in the kitchen. But, this won't be a problem for all of you who love Star Trek. This book is full of recipes that you can find in the Star Trek TV Series. I believe that you will have a lot of fun time preparing the dishes. You won't be able to wait to try them out.
It wasn't easy to create these recipes but I must confess I had a lot of fun. After all, we don't have some special ingredients that come from different intelligent species. I used ingredients from Earth and I chose them wisely. But, still, there are some recipes that were followed through generations like the O'Brian's dish, the pecan pie, etc.
Star Trek gave us amazing adventures. It was so easy to get stuck watching more than 1 episode a day. Every single episode led to an even more exciting story. While there are many different opinions about the series and the movies but it all depends on the genres you like. Still, Star Trek won almost everyone's hearts in the world.
Now, to make things even more realistic, it is time to start cooking. You don't need to create the dish on your own. I have the best dishes right here for you. You just need to choose the first one you want to make and start cooking.
Actually, these recipes are great for a party too, a Star Trek-themed party. Especially drinks. They are so out of this world and everyone will enjoy them. Just make sure that you make plenty of everything; no one will be able to resist your dishes.
Chapter 1 The Next Generation Recipes
1. Heart of Targ
This is the traditional Klingon dish. Commander Riker had this dish as preparation before serving on the Pag, a Klingon ship. However, none of his crewmates on the Enterprise joined him. It was not an easy task to design this dish. I know that it is made from a creature that is like a wild board, so maybe it would be better to use pigs hearts for this recipe. But since it is not easy to find them, we are going to use Lambs hearts.
Prep: 15min Cook: 15min Total Time: 30min Servings:
Ingredients:
- 6 Hearts (Lamb or if you can find use pigs' hearts)
- 1 Kale, cut into strips
- 6 Celery stalks, cut into pieces
- Vegetable oil
- cup of water
Sauce:
- 1 tbsp. Cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp. Brown sugar
- 1 cup of red wine
Directions:
1. First, prepare the hearts. Cut off any fat and tubes of the heart. Now slice them into small think slices. Set aside.
2. Now it is time for the sauce. In a saucepan add the wine and heat it over medium-low. Add sugar and stir. Once dissolved add Worcestershire sauce. This will create one amazing sour and sweet sauce.
3. In a bowl add a splash of wine and add 1 tbsp. Cornstarch. Make slurry and add in the sauce. This will thicken the sauce. Depending on your preference you might need to add 1 tbsp. cornstarch more.
4. In a wok or a large saucepan add water. Once heated, cook the celery for about 5 8 minutes. Now add the chopped kale and cook until softened. Remove the kale and celery. Make sure to drain them well.
5. In a dry saucepan add vegetable oil. Once heated add the lambs hearts. Cook for 2 minutes stirring often. Dont overcook them because they will become chewy.
6. Turn off the stove and add the sauce. Coat well.
7. Serve by placing the celery and kale mix in a bowl and add the hearts with the sauce in the middle.
8. Enjoy!
2. Bio - enzymatic supplement
When new species visit the ship as part of exchanging culture food is always the most enjoyable part. Once the Iyaarans were so into chocolate that Troi was surprised (chocolate begin her favorite food). However, the Iyaarans's daily and normal food was bio-enzymatic supplement. While nothing can be compared to chocolate I must say that these supplements are quite amazing.
Prep: 15min Cook: 15min Total Time: 30min Servings: 12 16 crackers
Ingredients:
- 5.3 oz. of Long Grain Rice
- 10 fl. oz. of Water
- 1 tsp. Black pepper
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1 tsp. Cumin, ground
Directions:
1. In a bowl add rice and water. Leave it overnight or at least 6 hours.
2. Next, place the water and rice in a blender. Blend until the rice gets crushed into small pieces. Strain through muslin cloth or sieve. Place it in a bowl.
3. Add the spices and mix. Line a baking sheet with a baking paper (2 baking sheets).
4. Place 1 tsp. at a time on the trays to make 6 crackers per tray. Use the spoon to flatten them. If it sticks on the spoon dip it in water before you flatten them.
5. Once prepared leave them on a warmer spot for at least 2 3 hours. Cook in a preheated oven, 320F. Cook them for 15 minutes.
6. Once done, peel them from the baking paper. Do it carefully because they are very fragile. Store up to 3 days in an air thigh container.
7. Enjoy!
