ARE YOU A SERIOUS EATER?

Answer these questions to find out:

Picture 7

Do you plan your day around what you might eat?

Picture 8

When you are heading somewhere, anywhere, will you go out of your way to eat something delicious?

Picture 9

When you daydream, do you often find yourself thinking about food?

Picture 10

Do you live to eat, rather than eat to live?

Picture 11

Have you strained relationships with friends or family by dictating the food itinerarychanging everyones plans to try a potentially special burger or piece of pie?

If youve answered yes to all five questions, you are indeed a serious eater. And youre not alone. There are millions of us out there in the world. We travel 80 miles to try a particular hot dog, and bring extra suitcases and coolers along on trips to transport our food souvenirs. We rhapsodize about sandwiches the way others do music, or literature, or art. We have loyalties to burger places or pizza styles the way others do to football teams. We read restaurant menus with wide-eyed wonderment and find ourselves in heated arguments about the merits of a particular taco truck.

Serious eaters are only distant cousins to foodies. Whereas many foodies are trend focused and chef obsessed, and prefer ten-course tasting menus to the countrys best burger, serious eaters are more democratic in their outlook. Theyre less interested in a celebrity chefs new restaurant or the latest Michelin rankings than they are in a genuinely delicious sandwichand the story behind the person who makes it. They may not know the best food in any given place, but theyd like to and they love having a community that shares their enthusiasm and passion in equal measure.
