I dedicate this book to my mom and hero, Mary Coxson. You are a wonderfully made, marvelous, and victorious cancer survivor. From my heart to yours, I want you to know that had it not been for your perseverance and long-suffering, this story could not be told. Thank you for allowing me to come into your mind and heart to expose the truth of our generational curse. I know it was not easy for you, considering you had to relive your past. You encouraged me to never give up on my life and God through Philippians 3:14, to press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in CHRIST JESUS. Mom, you are a ruby in the kingdom and the apple of Gods eye. Thank you for everything. I love and honor you dearly.
Acknowledgements
First and foremost, I give all honor, glory, and praise to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Through the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I am extremely grateful for all the great things and challenges in my life. You are dependable, faithful, and nothing is too big for you. Your love remains the same. You are the rock in my life. Heavenly Father, strange things have happened in my life over the years that made me live in fear, shame, and guilt. But your word says in Isaiah 43:1-3: Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour
To my good friends and investors, Steven and Jennifer Schock: Words cannot express how much your support, guidance, and encouragement have carried me through this labor of love. You are truly a godsend and a walking example of brotherly love, as Jesus states in John 13:34-35: A new commandment I give to unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. I love you both.
To my children: Lakia, David, Malachi, Jeremiah, Malina, and Maranda. You all are bundles of energy to my soul. You all have unique gifts and talents from God and my prayer is that you all use those gifts to glorify Him. As your mother, I have made a lot of wrong decisions in my life. Graciously, God has forgiven me, which allowed me to ultimately forgive myself. I pray from the depths of my soul that you all will forgive me. You are children of the Most High God. Follow JESUS CHRIST all of your life. If you fall, get back up. Jesus will keep you. Love, Mom.
To my little sister, Antranette Coxson: You are not only my sister; you are my dearest friend and the realest woman I ever met. You are always on the front line on the battlefield. As sisters, we most definitely had our share of fighting. Sometimes it seemed as if we were like two warriors from separate tribes. We could never find ourselves being deceitful and showing strife toward one another, because of our growing integrity and undeniable characteristics of our mother. I want to give you a special thank you for loving me and admiring me as your sister. You are chosen from God. You are the salt in the earth, as stated in Matthew 5:13. You are a beautiful, loving, and caring daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. Continue to allow God to show you His Glory through your life. He is bigger and greater than our visions and dreams. I love you, Sis.
To my big brother, Elijah Davis, Jr.: You are a remarkable, intelligent, adventurous, and educated man. Youve always been determined to see my dreams come true, even with your own struggles. You show your selfless heart by your desire to help people. I look up to you and admire your credentials. You are truly a chosen one from God, so hold tight to your destiny. Your little sis loves you.
To my dearest cousin, Tonya Leftridge: You have the heart of Christ. As a server, giver, and provider, your love for children is a gift you were born with and something I always admired about you. Youre a gift from God. That makes you so special and chosen. You are loyal and trustworthy. While growing up, you and I shared so much laugher and tears. Summer breaks at your house were so much fun, but sad when it was time for me to go home. It was a delight to grow up with you. As we got older, we were separated for years, as life called us in different directions. I just want to thank you for your friendship and it blesses my heart for you to see how God turned my scars into stars. I love you Cousin Tonya!
I want to acknowledge my beautiful cousins: Anthony, Sharon, Herman, Gloria Lynn, Kevin, Tonya, Gwanda, Carlos, Victor, William, Dennis, Jr., and Ahsha. Just like it says in Rick Warrens The Purpose Driven Life, We were all born into the right family at the right time. Through my love for each of you, through Jesus Christ, I offer Isaiah 44:2 (CEV): I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born. None of us are accidents. We are all part of Gods mighty plan. I love you all with the love of the Lord. Sincerely, Cousin Angie.
To my counselor, Mrs. Iris Watkins: You are a strong, powerful, bold woman of God. God knew I needed a sister like you in my life. You were there for me through some of my more serious strongholds. You gave me wisdom but allowed me to make my own decisions. My life was so unorganized when you walked into my heart. My mind and my home were both cluttered. You are the older sister that I always wanted. You were always raw with me and I could never just tell you anything and simply leave it be. You challenged my walk with Christ and I truly needed that because of my old, worldly behaviors. You taught me how to apply the Seven Spiritual Principles for my life. I am definitely honored to call you friend and sister.
To my mentor and sister, Joy Turner: You have inspired me to continue writing when it became mentally draining to my spirit. God put you in my life during its most horrific seasons. Your compassion for my family is endless. He chose you to be my mentor because of your humble heart for Him. He allowed me to watch you follow His commandments and worship from your soul. You have rebuked and encouraged me with the word of God so that I can continue to be bold and unafraid in the Lord. I thank you very much for being my friend, mentor, and sister in Jesus Christ.
