Do you know someone who seems like an overnight success story? Whatever they touch turns to gold. Everything seems to come easily for them.
Then there are the rest of us.
Success doesnt come easily for us. It seems we are striking out more than we are getting on base. We long for a better life. To make a difference. But days turn into weeks, then months, then years. And the dreams we once had seem to fade into the distance.
We wonder about ourselves. The questions we ask turn personal. What am I doing wrong?
If youve ever felt discouraged, worn out, or let down, Ive got great news for you. You are holding the right book in your hand.
What you are about to read could be the best and most helpful book you have read in a long time. Because while a rare group of people seem to live with instant success and significance, the vast majority of us dont.
Keep this in mind: just because you dont have the rags-to-riches story, doesnt mean God doesnt have an amazing plan for your life. But I also believe He wants to do something in you before He does more through you.
And thats where Kevin Myers comes in.
This book is long overdue. The first time I heard Kevins story, I told him, You have to put your story into a book!
Being modest, he shrugged off my suggestion and tried to change the subject.
I was too passionate to be polite and talked over him, Listen to me! You dont understand. People need to hear this story. Pastors need it. Business leaders need it. Parents need it. Teenagers need it. Then I told him again as plainly as I could, You have to put your story into a book.
Im a big believer in the message of this book for several reasons. First, Kevin is not an overnight success story. In fact, his story is quite the opposite. After starting a church, his congregation didnt grow to more than 200 people in the first seven years. In the church world, that means his church would not likely ever see over 200 people in attendance. But Kevin was persistent and faithful to Gods call. Then something amazing happened. Not only did his church surpass 200, but it went on to reach 700, 1,800, 5,000, 10,000, 15,000and it is still growing! After years of living what seemed to be a dead-end dream, now Kevin leads one of the largest churches in America.
His story is both inspirational and bottom-shelf practical. Kevin has a unique ability to simultaneously encourage and instruct. He will show you four very specific and helpful keys to succeeding at what matters most.
Finally, I am a Kevin Myers fan. He is humble, teachable, wise, and full of integrity. He combines a deep love for God and a rich understanding of leadership that will walk you through a step-by-step journey of becoming all God wants you to be.
Get ready to round the bases.
With Gods help and through this book, its time to hit a home run!
We want to say thank you to

A re you living the life that you wantlife to the full, as Jesus described in John 10:10? I believe every follower of Christ has the potential to do that. Yet too often believers lives dont look much different from those of people who dont follow God. Heartbreakingly, research shows that most believers live no better and no differently than non-believers. For example, believers dont seem to handle money any better than non-believers. According to John W. Kennedy writing in Christianity Today, There is little difference between the amounts that Christians and non-Christians earn, spend, save, charge, or donate to charities. Why is that?
I believe that many Christians are missing some foundational principles and practices of the faith. Many of these were taught to my generation when we were children. And they were definitely embraced and embodied by the generation of my parents. God wants to change us from the inside out. Many people try to grow from the outside in. The bad news is that it just doesnt work. The good news is that this book can help a person to change and grow the right way, and to learn those missing pieces of faith and life development.
A Life with Great Potential
Kevin Myers has discovered a new hook for biblical truths that are as old as the Old Testament. In the pages of Scripture and through his own life experience, he has found a pattern for living that God uses to help His people do life well. It also helps them to make good decisions, to grow, and to lead.
As a communicator, I appreciate a great hook, a fresh and effective way of teaching something. Before I get into the great hook Kevin discovered to teach these truths, let me first tell you about him. Ive known Kevin since he was seventeen years old, and he came to a leadership conference where I was speaking. As a kid in Bible college, he was sharp, a little bit brash, and determined to do great things for God.
Our paths crossed several times during the next few years. I remember when he introduced me to his wife, Marcia, soon after they were married. Trust methe boy married way above himself. Because Kevin was in the same denomination and because he worked for my friend Wayne Schmidt in Grand Rapids, Michigan, early in his career I was aware of him. In fact, when I learned that Kevin and Marcia planned to plant a church in North Metro Atlanta in the late 80s, Margaret and I wrote a check for $500 to show our support.
The marking moment in Kevins and my relationship came at a leadership conference I hosted several years after Kevin planted his church, 12Stone. Ill let him tell you that story. But let me say this: Kevin is one of the finest communicators I know in the United States. Hes become a dear friend to me and to EQUIP, my international non-profit leadership training organization. I have gotten the opportunity to mentor him for more than a decade. And I feel that more than anyone else, he has taken the baton of church leadership that I passed after I left full-time pastoral leadership in the local church, and he has run with it. He is leading the kind of church that I would have liked to lead, had God allowed me to stay in pastoral ministry in the local church.
