GOLF FOR
ENLIGHTENMENT
An ethereal and delightful experience. Those of us who live in the game are often teased by what appears to be its specious nature. However, it is the genuine nature of what the game offers that is the very allure of this lovely book.
J EFF J OHNSON, PGA professional
Deepak Chopra has applied many of his teachings about life to the wonderful game of golf. I not only learned something about my approach to the game, but I learned how to apply these lessons so that I am able to focus my energies more efficiently in business. This is a must read for any executive.
K EN G UNSBERGER, senior vice president of Morgan Stanley
Just as we cant control many variables in the game of life, the game of golf also contains many variables we cant control. This book is a beautiful illustration of that, and shows us that many wonderful things can happen when we let go of that need for control.
K ENNETH N. M AY, CEO and president of RCI
The game of life and the game of golf are similar in that we put way too much emphasis on results instead of what we learn from the experience. This book is a wonderful reminder that the game of life and the game of golf are both a journey, and that journey is much more important than the destination.
L INDA R EBROVICK, chief marketing officer of KPMG Consulting
Golf for Enlightenment is a unique, entertaining, and thought-provoking book. The book utilizes a mans quest to conquer the game of golf by inadvertently teaching him how to see life in a different perspective. As with the game, it is apparent that Deepak Chopras lessons in life will take years of constant practice to master. Yet along the way your enjoyment of the game will improve immensely, as will, perhaps, your game itself.
T OM W ILSON, PGA professional and tournament director of the PGA Tours Buick Invitational
The literary equivalent of hitting it on the screws. Chopra makes you step back to examine the fact that your life and your game are one and the same.
J OHN F RICKE, television and radio sports analyst
This is not only a game plan for golf, but more importantly a game plan for life. Talk about a valuable yardage book! Deepak Chopra has molded and created something the Royal & Ancient never dreamed of. Its as if Chopra came back from the long session with Old Tom Morris. We are all the better for it.

Foreword
by J ESPER P ARNEVIK
I hate this #!&%#&!#%!!! game! I will never touch a golf club again!!
There is probably not one golfer who has never uttered these words. Still, golfers keep coming back the next day to give it another shot. Why? The answer is simple. Golf is the most brilliant game ever invented! What other game could turn seemingly intelligent and sane people into complete lunatics in a matter of seconds?
No other sport gives you the roller-coaster ride of emotions that golf does. The peaks consist of pure ecstasy and the lows are full of despair and anger. The danger lies in letting the latter get the upper hand.
I remember the year I turned pro. I was twenty-one and full of confidence. I could not wait to go out and win every tournament. To say the least, my expectations were very high. But the results didnt follow. I tried harder and harder, but played worse and worse! My frustration was beyond measure. My endless hours on the range started to seem like a complete waste of time. Every time I stepped up on the first tee, my mind was a welter of positions and swing thoughts. I decided to take a break and look for new ways to practice and improve.
I have always had an open mind and I love reading books and listening to tapes in my car. By coincidence I picked up a tape series by Deepak Chopra called Magical Mind, Magical Body. It had nothing to do with golf, but changed my approach to golf and life forever. Deepak mixes Eastern philosophies with Western logic in a way that is very easy to comprehend. He showed me new ways to think, eat, sleep, and practice. My biggest realization was that golf (and life) was not a game I could control, nor could I dominate it. It is a game of letting go. A golfers biggest opponent is not the golf course or the other players. Its that little voice in your head whispering, DONT HIT IT IN THE WATER. When you can make that voice your best friend instead of your worst enemy, your possibilities are endless. In this book Deepak will give you all the tools and directions to do just that. I cant guarantee you will break par straight away, but you will definitely open your mind to a new world.
