Words are powerful. With one word, God can change our lives and we can help change the course of someones day. Within one word, we can find encouragement and hope.
Proverbs 25:11 says, A word fitly spoken and in due season is like apples of gold in settings of silver. This verse is the inspiration behind Wake Up to the Word.
This 365-day devotional features one word for each day of the year, a definition of that word, a Bible verse, and a Bible-based encouragement. Wake Up to the Word not only takes you deeper into Gods Word but it is a great resource if youre looking for a quick word of encouragement each morning that will provide something to meditate on throughout the day.
I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed working on it. I pray it will be a blessing in your life.
Having a firm or fixed purpose; or manifesting a firm resolution, as a determined countenance.
One of the great benefits of following Jesus is knowing that with Him you cant lose. Because He is with you, no matter what you face, you can overcome. Things wont always be easy, but if you are determined to keep moving forward, you will make progress.
In your relationships, your finances, your career, and your emotional well-being the only way you can lose is if you give up. So be determined today, even in the toughest circumstances.
God is with you (see Joshua 1:9), and He has promised to never leave your side (see Matthew 28:20). If youll hold on to those promises, youll live a bold, confident, determined life.
And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.
GALATIANS 6:9
Kindly received; regarded; agreed to; understood; received as a bill of exchange
Have you ever felt rejected, unwanted, or out of place?
None of us experiences acceptance from everyone in our lives. In fact, many experience a type of rejection that damages our souls. We may believe we are flawed if people have rejected us, and, therefore, we mistakenly decide we are worthless.
But this is not true. Dont let someone elses behavior, words, or actions toward you make you feel inferior. The truth is that God created you and He delights in you. He loves you, and He will never reject you.
You can live beyond your feelingsyou can move past the pain of rejection. You are unconditionally loved and completely accepted by your Heavenly Father.
All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me].
JOHN 6:37
Applied to God, the perfection or holiness of His nature; exact rectitude; faithfulness
There are two kinds of righteousness. The first is a righteousness that we try to earn through our good works. The second is the righteousness that is given as a free gift to those who sincerely believe in Jesus.
The first kind of righteousness causes struggle and frustration and can never truly be attained. But righteousness through Christ allows you to rest in God and appreciate His love and mercy.
My own struggle to keep the rules and earn righteousness was intense and caused me many years of agony. I was trying to get to God through good behavior, yet I always fell short.
But Jesus invites all of us to give up striving for works-based righteousness in our own strength so we can receive righteousness by faith in Him. Choose to receive His gift of righteousness today.
But to one who, not working [by the Law], trusts (believes fully) in Him Who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited to him as righteousness (the standing acceptable to God).
ROMANS 4:5
Having the power to create
God is amazingly creative, and His Spirit dwells in you. You were created in His image, so that means you, too, are creative.
Do you live a life of boring sameness because you are afraid to try anything new? A great deal of creativity lies within you, and God wants to show you how to tap into it and express it without fear.
