L et us begin your magical training with a discussion of important theories and information:

The 4 elements

What are the four elements? They refer to the following: fire, water, earth, and air. It is well to note that everything in the universe is composed of the elements. This is a magical teaching that has existed since ancient times. As such, by learning to harness and manipulate the elements, you can definitely create wonderful changes in your life and even in the lives of the people around you. It should be noted that these elements do not just refer to the gross material elements as you usually know them. For example, the element fire does not only refer to the material fire that you see with your eyes, but it also carries with it certain qualities and magical properties. The same principle applies to all the other elements. This is one big difference between the point of view of a magical practitioner and that of a layman who knows nothing about the magical arts, and it is through this that you can create powerful magick and harness a strong force and power. Having said that, let us take a look at the elements one by one:

The element fire is said to be the very first element in the universe. Hence, God said, "Let there be light." Light belongs to the element of fire. the element fire goes beyond mere light and heat, but it also carries in itself the following magical qualities and properties: warmth, courage, lust, willpower, strength, desire, sex, war, expansion, electric, hot, determination, and passion, among others. The more that you work with this element the more that you will get to know it.

We also have the element water. this element is said to be the second element in creation. But, there are scholars who believe that the element of water was created at the same time when fire was made. This is because fire cannot exist without water and vice versa, just as good cannot exist without evil. Once again, this element does not only refer to the water that you drink or the water in the ocean, but it goes much more than the gross material associations that you have with it. Here are the magical qualities and properties of water: cold, moist, contraction, magnetic, cleansing, relaxation, emotion, and healing, among others.

The next element is the element of air. Although considered by some to be not a real element, it is still important as we cannot survive without air. The element of air has the following magical qualities and properties: warm, quickness, intellect, creativity, communication, wisdom, letting go and moving on, self-expression, travel, and movement, among others. If you think yourself as a gypsy, then you are probably attuned with this element.

Last but not least, we have the element earth. This element is something that you should have a good idea of as you are from and of the earth. But, just like with the other elements, the element of earth goes beyond what you know about rocks and the forest. it also has the following magical qualities and properties: stability, wealth, natural, manifestation, materialization, good fortune, and physical healing, among others.

It should be noted that the aforesaid qualities and properties of the elements may vary from person to person. It is up to you to find out how you attune with the different elements of nature. Normally, a person may feel more closely attached to a particular element than the others, and this is normal. However, as a true magical practitioner, it is your job to gain mastery over all the elements. Hence, do not be contented with just having an affinity with one or two elements. Again, it is worth emphasizing that as a true magical practitioner, you have to master all the four elements. Do not worry, you do not need to rush the process of learning and mastery. Simply continue to practice the techniques in this coursebook and always do your best. it is also good to note that mastery over all the elements is the first card of the tarot, The Magician, and it is also the path of true initiation into the magical arts.
