Preface

Every Christian prays for the salvation of the lost. (It's instinctive to our new nature to do this.) It may be a lost friend, a lost neighbor, lost associates at the workplace, or for the lost in countries who have never heard the Gospel.

Most likely it is for all I have already mentioned plus many more. We pray for the salvation of the lost in our society, for our leaders on the political scene, for our children's playmates, and others. This is because every believer partakes of the agape love of God which is extended, John 3:16 says, to "the sons of Adam" (the literal Greek for "world"). The love of God within us projects out of our hearts toward the lost around us.

But every believer I know, and I know many, will tell you what type of lost person they pray for mosttheir lost loved ones. The salvation of our families is the dearest thing to our hearts. We long for our loved ones in both our immediate and extended families to come to know the joy of Christ's forgiveness in their hearts.

Everyone prays for their lost loved ones, but this book focuses on how to pray effectively for them. I have been teaching this message approximately twenty years and first published it in a booklet called And Thy House almost seventeen years ago. The results have been dramatic. Three hundred thousand (300,000) copies of And Thy House have been distributed in many parts of the world. Oftentimes one copy of this booklet has been passed around to many believers becoming ragged and worn with use. The prayer in the back of the booklet has been photocopied and distributed to entire communities of believers who have put in the names of their lost loved ones and prayed fervently for their salvation. Christian presses in different parts of the world have asked permission to translate and publish this booklet so the believers in their countries could come to a fuller understanding of these truths. Only God knows how many thousands of His people have read And Thy House and how many souls have come to Him as a result.

Over the course of these last seventeen years I have received literally hundreds of heartwarming letters from grateful readers whose husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins have come to the Lord within days or weeks of applying the truths in And Thy House, and praying the prayer in the back.

Most recently I was speaking at the final service of a series of meetings we were conducting in the Seattle, Washington area (I am an evangelist and itinerant Bible teacher). The exact date was February 9, 1998. As I was praying with people on an individual basis a dear little lady came running up to me in tears. "Are you the writer of And Thy House?" she asked excitedly. I replied that I was and she grabbed me with both arms squeezing me with all her might. Then she told me, and all the congregation at Faith and Vision Ministries, how she had received this book through a famous television evangelist who had recently published it.

"Within eight days," she wept, "my son, 38 years of age, came to the Lord while alone in his room. He was in a psychiatric hospital where he was being unsuccessfully treated for complete dysfunction. He has never been able to keep a job for any time at all or maintain any type of personal relationship with anyone. But after I got your book I put his name in the back and interceded for his salvation. I knew the Lord was moving for my son. Eight days later it was as though the Lord came into his room, touched his mind, saved his soul, and completely changed him. His doctors were amazed. He was soon released from care, moved into his own place, got and kept a job all these months, and loves everyone. He is a brand new person!" By this time all of us were rejoicing with her. It is a complete revision of And Thy House containing all the pertinent information of the former booklet, with additional revelation which has come to us over these many years.

God's Guarantee

Is there a guarantee in God's Word to save your loved ones? After years of careful research I believe the answer is yes! In the voyage of life God has promised to give "all who sail with you." (Acts 27:24) Consider the following texts which, I believe, will show you clearly God's promises of household salvation: The Promise of Salvation for Your Children There are abundant promises in the Word of God for your children's salvation. Prayerfully read the following verses and note carefully what the Lord has promised for your sons and daughters.

The Promise of Their Well-Being

And all your sons will be taught of the Lord; and the well-being of your sons will be great.

The Promise of Household Salvation

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

(Acts 2:39)

So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." ...and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.

(Acts 16:31, 34)

This promise was prefigured in the Old Testament.

During the first Passover each head of a Hebrew household took the blood from one lamb and sprinkled its blood over the doorway of his home, while his family abode inside the house. Moses had previously instructed the nation: "On the tenth of this month every man shall take himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household." (Exodus 12:3) One lamb covered an entire family. Jesus, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed for us.

He is the Passover! He is the lamb for a household! (see 1 Corinthians 5:7)

The Promise of Salvation for Your Grandchildren:

The children of your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.

(Psalm 102:28)

"As for Me," says the Lord, "this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants' descendants," says the Lord, "from this time and forevermore."
