Why Miracles of the Eucharist?
Its altogether fitting that the Lord allowsus to come back to where for us, it all started, to the Shrine ofthe Miracles of the Eucharist in Lanciano, Italy to kind of kickoff the Miracles of the Eucharist series that were doing rightnow..
In order to do this, in order to even talkabout Miracles of the Eucharist, and why Miracles of the Eucharist,we have to go back to Scripture, John 6:51, because none of it hasany meaning unless its based on this MOST IMPORTANT scripturepassage from John 6:51.
And so we go to John 6:51, to where Jesusgave them what we call the Eucharistic Doctrine. I Myself, amthe living bread, come down from Heaven. If anyone eats of thisBread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give is Myflesh, for the life of the world.
The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, How can this man give us His flesh to eat? Then Jesussaid to them, Truly, truly I say unto you, unless you eat theflesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you have no life inyou.
At that point, many of His people got up andbegan to leave. His disciples said This is a hard saying. Who canlisten to it?
So, you see, the controversy began rightaway, even there, at the very moment when He made the Eucharisticstatement, controversy began over the Real Presence of Jesus in theEucharist.
And they say that most of his followers lefthim. Now, you must get into the mentality of these dear people, before you judge them harshly. They were Jews. They lived under theMosaic Law, and we know that Jesus knew the law, didnt He. He knewwhat they were thinking. Under the Law of Moses, the kosher law ofMoses, no Jew can drink of animal blood. What does that mean in ourterms? Rare steak. Any of you like rare steak? Well, if you do,youre drinking the blood of animals. This is the way the Jewsfelt. They soak the meat; they salt the meat. No blood.
What now, not possibly the Messiah, notRabbi, this Nazorean. See the day before, when He multiplied theloaves and fishes, He was the Teacher; He was the prophet; todayHes that Nazorean.

And Hes proposing that they drink humanblood. This was repulsive to them. They did not understand. He wasalso proposing that they eat human flesh. To compound the problemthey were having, there were reports of human sacrifices happeningin the hills of Judea.
They didnt understand. It wasnt until theLast Supper, in the Upper Room, when He showed them how they couldeat His Body and drink His blood, in a non-cannibalistic way.
Now, the easiest thing would have been forhim to accommodate them. Remember, He came to save them. He didntwant to separate Himself from them. He loved them! He knew that Histime was short. He did not want to lose even one soul. Not onesoul. Every soul on earth is precious to Him. Why didnt Hecompromise? Why didnt He accommodate them? Why didnt He say thatwhich divides us? What the first heretics used to divide us, thatthis was only a symbol?
Now, my darling is petite, but if were to saysomething and all of you began making an exit, she would run up infront of you, block the door with her body, and cry out,
You misunderstood what we were saying. Letme explain. We meant to say its only a symbol. But He didnt sayits a symbol. Why didnt He say its a symbol? Because He istruth, isnt He? Hes the truth. and to be the truth, He must speakthe truth. God cannot lie...
He even turned to the apostles, and said tothem, Will you leave Me also? But that was the beginning of theEucharist; that was the beginning of the controversy. It started atthat very moment, and has continued down through the centuries, tothis very day.
Now, we just want you to realize howimportant this was to Jesus, how important this is to Jesus. That we understand that we realize what is coming about. He waspreparing them for the journey, wasnt he? What had they beendoing? What do we do? We go from conference to conference, frompilgrimage to pilgrimage, very often from seer to seer, fromapparition to apparition, and were not really listening to whatJesus is saying in every experience.
We used to have a priest, who said to us,The people in Capharnaum were running from prayer meeting toprayer meeting, and never knew that God was in their midst. Youhave to understand the reason for the attacks. The Eucharist, whichis a part of the Mass, is a recreation of the Sacrifice of theCross. Satan hates the Cross. Like Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, inhis Seven Last words, in the Church of St. Agnes in New York, justbefore he died, he said, Satan said to them, Come down off thatCross and well believe. Well believe in anything, wellbelieve in the pope, only come down off that Cross. GeorgeBernard Shaw said, Its the Cross that bars the way. AndArchbishop Sheen said, Yes, it bars the way to hell!

Yesterday, when we ascended the steps andstood before the Miracle of the Eucharist of Lanciano, Pennyremained there because usually she explains the Miracle of theEucharist to the pilgrims. She tells us:
Yesterday was a very unique experiencefor me personally. And Im sure if I would ask the pilgrims, theywould all say that they had their own unique experience. I found Icouldnt explain it to you, because I didnt need to explain it toyou. You knew; you understood, even beyond the story. This is themessage that I have been receiving through you, at every Miracle ofthe Eucharist. The miracle is beyond the story. The Miracle is inthe people. We have never seen the reaction in anybody that hasbeen to the Miracles of the Eucharist as we have with you, withthis group that we have here. Its never been this pronounced. Itsnever been as dramatic; its never been as personal as it has beenthese last few days.
But that reality that we received throughyou and your faith and your belief is the reality that Jesus ChristHimself gave to you. You were not, of your own intellect, of yourown will, believing. Thats what I saw up there. What I saw upthere was you being engulfed by the Lord Himself. It was as if itwas in the days of the Old Testament, where the temple was justcovered with a cloud. This is what I saw. I saw the Spirit of theLord upon you, coming from the Miracle. And you did not see aMiracle of the Eucharist. What I saw in your eyes was you saw thecrucified Lord, Jesus on the Cross. Thats what we have been givenfrom the Miracles.
Wed like to share a testimony from one ofour pilgrims.
When I thought about the trip and all theplaces we were going, that (Lanciano) was a place that I didntknow much about. And I had heard about it, a Eucharistic Miracle, but Id never seen one. And I remember when I got there, I wasntsure what to expect; I didnt know what was going to happen. Wewent into the Church and we prayed. Then, they said we could go upand see the Miracle, so we were going up the stairs, and all of asudden, I just, like right now, I lost my breath, and feeling sucha deep love and happiness, and joy and peace. And I felt that fewother times in my life, but it was very deep, and I couldnt keepfrom crying. And the closer and closer I got to Jesus (in theMiracle) I just wanted to cry my eyes out, because I love Him somuch, and I feel that He really touched me. And I dont know whatit means, and I dont know why it happened. But it was the mostbeautiful part of my pilgrimage.
