FORWARD
The following pages reveal a straightforward method for the attainment of your personal goals. The method is simple, but following through may require courage at first; still, once you grasp the meaning and the principle, nothing should stand in your way! Quite a statement you say? Not really. As a matter of fact, it is an understatement.
I have met hundreds of people who have read every Self Help book available, applied the principles, and worked very hard investing their time and energy only to reap the concept of positive thinking. Positive thinking IS definitely a valuable tool in our lives, but so is negative thinking. We just cannot simply rule out negative feedback and blindly and faithfully push onward with a Pollyanna attitude that everything will work out. Thats sheer disaster.
Now, some of you will undoubtedly at this point ask, What is Faith? In whom shall we place our faith? In other people and their concepts of reality? Well, we can place faith in whatever we wish, but unless that faith pays off in tangible terms every time, our faith will wane. However, if that FAITH does pay off in tangible terms, every time, we will follow that principle BECAUSE IT WORKS! We can SHOW something, an object, as proof of the power in faith of a principle to bring forth our desires.
The only place then, that faith can be expressed, is in the return benefit to us. We place an extreme amount of faith in a water tap every time we turn the spigot to operate as it did previously; if it does not, we are very surprised, so surprised, in fact, that we will turn the spigot on again and again to convince ourselves that it is not in working order. It is when we realize we all have faith in great abundance that the question of faith becomes a moot one. We surely have faith upon retiring at night that we will arise in the morning to face a new day. Bottom line; faith is required in a belief system, not in the self-evident face of truth.
What then is it that enables us to ACHIEVE goals when everything seems to go against us? DETERMINATION? Partly, determination is only a factor of yet a greater faction. What about WORTHINESS? It too is an important factor, much more important than we may first realize. Worthiness is basically like a thermostat, the idea that our achieving a reward is equivalent to our own level of feelings that we are really DESERVE what it is we have acquired. However, if we honestly feel we deserve more, we will achieve it.
A friend of mine was accused of being selfish. His reply was more revealing. Why not, he said, it is my life and Im the one who is responsible for it. He may not have the whole philosophy but he certainly has the essence. RESPONSIBILITY is the key word. You must take the responsibility of receiving what it is you want in life and STOP EXPECTING OTHERS TO SIMPLY HAND IT OVER!
Selfish then, can have a different connotation. One must run his life as he would a business, at a profit; and it is up to you to see that you GET IT! Nobody will ever just give you what you want; you must somehow work, barter, and earn it, and then feel that you deserve it.
These pages REVEAL the greatest POWER IN EXISTENCE, the power to be yourself without the fear of some omnipresent judge nearby eagerly awaiting your mistakes so you will be eternally dammed for them. Once you read this book, however, the responsibility of your development must be presented in a favorable light to ensure your success. This is YOUR LIFE. Learn to control it and you will find yourself in control.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE UP?
Measurement is a standard of evaluation. What are you evaluating? Your standard of living as compared to your dreams of how it SHOULD BE. The measuring device is a simple one. Just look around you; you cant miss it. Psychologists are always referring to our subconscious mind as if it were a deep hidden resource only to be found through intensive study. My understanding of the subconscious mind is it isnt hidden at all; it is the mind you constantly look at visually! As a simpler concept, your subconscious mind COULD be called your surroundings.
Now look around you; is your home the home you WANT to live in, or is it just temporary until something better comes along? Your job is the REFLECTION of where you FEEL most needed. The salary you draw each payday is the REFLECTION of YOUR inner value, the idea of YOUR weekly WORTH. The car you drive: Is it just transportation or the status symbol you would like it to be? The friends you attract, the hobbies you select, everything in your world, are the REFLECTION of your subconscious mind projected into your surroundings in the material world, presented to you RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES.
Take a good hard look and evaluate. This could be the turning point in your life. We have a tendency to lose ourselves in our everyday struggle of simple survival. Somebody once said, Most of us are too busy earning a living to make any real money! And how true that is. Of course, there will be items you are not fully satisfied with but lets not try to change anything just yet. You will do that later. A clear-cut image of where you ARE and where you are GOING is very important. Lets find out where you are right now.
Look around and make a list of what you have and another of what you would LIKE TO HAVE. You may want to check the following:
PERSONALITY: Do you make an effort to be attractive?
POSSESSIONS: Do you have enough to take advantage of opportunities
MENTAL ATTITUDE: Can you find advantages in setbacks?
HOME/CHILDREN: Home large enough? Children provided for?
HOBBIES: Is there any way they can turn into financial gain?
WORK/PROFESSION: Are YOUR personal needs FULLY expressed?
SPOUSE/PARTNER: Does your partner help or hinder you?
LIMITS: Are you limiting yourself too severely?
PHILOSOPHY: Does your religion allow you to treat yourself well?
FRIENDS: Are they supportive or antagonistic?
SORROWS: Are there too many obligations for you to handle?
This helpful guide can suggest where changes can be made. Give yourself credit where it is due, but be honest with yourself; it is vitally important.
A WORTHY PROBLEM
Now that you have a clear image of where you ARE, you need an image of where you want to be. Once you have evaluated your situation, and find you are dissatisfied, DO NOT despair or get angry. Honestly ask yourself, why am I in this situation? You may come up with all sorts of excuses, even explaining your circumstances as your lot in life; however, we have within our being divine dissatisfaction WHICH SPURS US ON TO GREATER heights. It is dissatisfaction that will feed the flames of desire within your being and turn failure into accomplishment.
Earlier, I mentioned a standard of evaluation. Evaluation suggests value or worth you RATED yourself in the last chapter according to your surroundings. Is THIS reply what you DESERVE? If the answer us yes, there is no need to read any further. However, if you are dissatisfied, there is no reason for you to remain surrounded by anything you feel is less than you deserve. Why then, do sub-standard items surround you in your life? I can tell you: you are looking at what you honestly and subconsciously feel YOU ARE WORTH!
Worthiness in your OWN EYES must change before you can change anything. YOU must become WORTH MORE to yourself. You must change values, your own. Now, stop and think. WHOSE values are you considering? If you have in the past come up short on the proverbial stick, or if you are still falling short, it is obvious those values you are considering are not valid. They cant be or you wouldnt have fallen short of YOUR GOALS! Where did such values of low-esteem come from?
