Using the index finger of your right hand, separate a tiny strand of hair from the outside of the right section.
Cross the tiny strand over to the section on the left side and join them.

Repeat steps 2 through 5 until you reach the end of your hair.
French Braid
A French braid incorporates the simple techniques and principles of the basic braid, but involves adding in hair as you create it.
After choosing where you want to start the braid, take a section of hair and separate it into three smaller sections.

Holding the braid in your left hand, place each section between your fingers. Use your right hand to section off a sliver of hair on the right side next to the braid.
Add the sliver of hair to the right section. Cross this section over the middle.
