About the Authors

Nick Dalton and Deborah Stone work as a team (generally helped on research trips by children Georgia and Henry). Using the knowledge garnered from writing about England and Wales for newspapers, magazines, and books, they were lead writers here, uniting a team despatched to the countries far reaches.

They co-wrote Kent, Surrey & Sussex, Cambridge & East Anglia, and Cardiff & South Wales, along with Suggested Itineraries, and much of The Best of , In Depth (in which history graduate Deborah revelled in the Today and Making of sections), and Planning Your Trip.

Together they have written Frommers Wales With Your Family, and have worked on Frommers editing projects for destinations from Vienna to Iceland.

Nick writes on travel for U.K. newspapers such as the Daily Telegraph, the Times and the Daily Express. He also, for his sins, covers skiing and cruises worldwide, and is a regular visitor to the U.S., where he has written travel guides for Colorado and other states. He has also written Frommers Salzburg Day By Day.

Deborah has written prolifically for the Daily Telegraph and Daily Express, on U.K. and family travel, having spent her childhood camping all over Britain, but particularly in East Anglia and Wales. She is a leading cruise writer, and is Online Gardening Editor at the Daily and Sunday Express.

Donald Strachan is a Scottish journalist, writer, and editor who has lived most of his life down south in England. He has written about the country, and wider European travel, for newspapers worldwide, including the Sydney Morning Herald and the Guardian, and is a U.K. Sunday Telegraph contributor on travel-related new technology. He's also authored or co-authored several recent guidebooks to European destinations, including Frommer's London 2013 and Frommers Florence, Tuscany & Umbria. Donald was responsible for the sections on London, North Wales, Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, and southern Somerset.

Rhonda Carrier, who hails from the East Midlands, has lived in London, Paris, Vienna and Hong Kong, and is now based in Manchester, writes widely about travel in the U.K. and abroad for Frommer's and frommers.com, Rizzoli, takethefamily.com, The Guardian and The Observer, The Mail Online, P&O Ferries and others. A family travel expert, she has authored three editions of Frommer's London with Kids as well as the guidebooks Frommer's Brittany With Your Family and Frommer's Normandy With Your Family, and edited several other titles in the 'With Your Family' series. Rhonda wrote the chapters East Midlands, The Northwest, and Yorkshire & the Northeast.

Louise McGrath is a freelance travel writer and editor. Born in England, she lived in the U.S., Colombia and Spain before moving to Northern Ireland in 2006. Since 2000 she has worked as an editor for Whatsonwhen (now Frommers Unlimited) writing destination guides, and has authored several guide books, including Frommers Lisbon Day by Day, Frommers Lake District Day by Day and Frommers England and the Best of Wales 2012, for which she worked on the Lake District chapter. Louise speaks Spanish and Portuguese, has an MA in Latin American Literature & Culture and is currently studying for the CIM Diploma in Digital Marketing.
