Dedicated to you, the job seeker, who no longer wants to settle and is ready to fast track landing the job of their dreams.
Foreword
As an original shark on the hit TV show Shark Tank and having had 20 companies that topped $100 million in sales, Ive learned a thing or two along the way about success. In fact, helping others achieve massive success is my lifes passion. So when my good friend Michael Altshuler told me about his new book that helps job seekers achieve massive success in landing their dream job and asked if I would write the foreword, of course I said, Yes. Now, I have to tell you that I didnt say Yes to Michael because of our friendship (that got the conversation started), I said Yes because I truly believe this book is not just a game changer, its a life changer, and there is nothing out there like it. I love getting behind things that change lives. I know this is Michaels passion as well. Let me give you a little background.
About three years ago, I met Michael at a National Speakers Association Convention. We hit it off right away, and our personal and professional relationship has continued to grow ever since. Weve shared the platform together at Hard Rock Stadium, weve partnered in a business together, and have even enjoyed golfing together (me more than himhe didnt do too well). The more I got to know Michael, the more I respected him and valued his integrity, drive, and the success hes achieved. When he does something, he goes all in and is all about getting great results for those he serves! Add to that his passion for wanting to help people and to change lives, and you have the perfect storm for GET HIRED!
The reason this book stands out from other books written on the same subject is because its not based on just one career consultants advice and best practices. Its a compilation of 17 recruiters, hiring managers, and career consultants from across the country, providing their expert advice and best practices. These hiring professionals collectively have hired (or rejected) thousands of applicants and have hundreds of years of combined hiring experience. Having this book in your toolchest is like having your own personal board of directors providing the perfect roadmap for job-seeking success. Nowhere else will you find a book that pulls back the curtain and takes you behind the scenes, where insider secrets will be revealed to you by 17 top experts on exactly what you need to say and do to land the job of your dreams. So whether your challenge is getting more interviews, delivering the goods on the interview, or making a successful career change, this book provides the answers.
When I was a shark on Shark Tank , I always looked to invest in businesses that had a unique competitive advantage in the marketplace. Well, thats exactly what you get with this book. GET HIRED! gives you a competitive advantage in the job marketplace, dramatically increasing the odds of you winning the job of your dreams.

I was thrilled to chat with Alberta about making the pivot between the non-profit, government, and corporate sectors, and how those who are looking to make the leap can be successful in their job search.
Currently a Human Resources (HR) and Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) consultant, Alberta has served as the head of human resources for a non-profit organization, where she played a key role in executive management and directed overall operations for human resources, including diversity and inclusion, talent management, employee engagement, performance management, training and development, and compliance. Alberta has a wealth of experience in diversity and inclusion, as well as in human resources and supplier diversity.
Michael: Alberta, youve been in HR a long time. What have you seen as the biggest difference between people looking for work in the past year versus people looking for work over the last 10 or 15 years? Have you seen any big changes between then and now?
Alberta: Yes, there was actually a story on yesterday evening here in Chicago about returning to the workforce after COVID. Even those that are employed are second guessing whether they want to stay with their current employer, because they dont feel comfortable returning to the office. So, I think youre not only seeing those that were impacted by layoffs or reductions in the work force, but also those that are looking to switch employers or change careers because COVID has been so eye-opening to them. Theyve realized that they value other things in their life, and theyve realized that their current employer doesnt value work-life balance as much. We now have a group of people job-seeking who are already in the workforce but who want a change.
Even those that are employed are second guessing whether they want to stay with their current employer.
So I think there is some competition out there. We are definitely starting to see the job market pickup as we see things opening back up.
Michael: Yeah, thats great. Thats actually the first time someone has brought up the idea that people are uncomfortable returning to the office, and I think its really insightful. Im actually helping my stepson. Hes working for a university, and hes uncomfortable, because no one wears a mask. Thats a reasonable thing to be uncomfortable about today. Now, we realize with the pandemic that people are on different sides of the fencesome are super paranoid, some dont care at all and think theyre going to be fine, and everywhere in between.
Right now, we know that the folks who are working from home are starting to go back. I have a company that I consult for that is insisting that everyone must come back to work. Its a small area, and not everyone wears masks. And I can understand the concern. Depending on how seriously concerned people are about coming back to a workplace where the safety precautions arent as great as they want, they feel they need to pivot and make a new career decision.
So lets talk about career pivoting. What advice do you have for someone moving into a new career? How can they do that successfully?
Alberta: Well, you have to know which direction you want to go in first, because you cant just throw darts in the air and look to see where they land. I went through this when I pivoted from a government job to the private sector. You have to understand the perspective of those that youre trying to impress, and that really takes doing some research and getting to know the industry.
