PREFACE
Many organizations today are living with the question, What is a learning organization? Theyre turning the question this way and that, reflecting on it, discussing it, feeling challenged and discouraged by it. More important than the answer to the question, is the fact that the question is being asked. The question is the answer. Whenever you encounter a question that grabs you and doesnt seem to want to let go, that is a signal that you have begun a journey, a quest. You might say thats precisely what the word question implies: Quest-I-On.
Creating a Learning Organization is written for people who wonder how to help an organization become a learning organization. If youre living with that question, this book is for you. To become a learning organization, you need to help both the individual and the organization learn, and in this book you will find guidance for those tasks. I hope that along the way it will provoke more questions, as well.
