The goal of this book will be to hopefully teach you step by step how to draw using an tablet. The author of this program is tablet artist Darren Cannell. Darren Cannell has been drawing using a tablet for about two years and he is willing to show some of his tricks and how he creates some of his works. The iPad and most tablets do have many different apps which can be used to draw, some are excellent and some are not. I know that is fairly basic but the app the Darren Cannell has settle on is based on his trying a couple of different ones and has found the app called Sketchbook Pro is his choice. Much of the book will be written using this App so before you start you may want to install the app on your iPad or Android Tablet.

It will cost approximately $4.99 and can be found at... Learning to Draw on a Tablet - image 3

The app is also available for other tablets, so check if you are using a different one than an iPad. If you are using something other than an iPad you will notice some of the instructions might not apply directly but most of the book will still apply just fine.

Beauty is all around you, when you see it remember it and then try to put it on the page...this attempt is what will make you an artist... share your vision of beauty.

This is always an interesting debate. I started my drawing on the tablet with my finger. It works but it gets to be like a professional guitar player, you are going to need build up scar tissue because you are going to wear the skin off your finger. So as I travelled through Asia, I bought a whole pile of different styluses and tried them out.

I have settled on one I use the most and it is one that is kind of like a wire brush. You will have to try some different ones until you find one that you like the most...they all work. The ones I have tried...

Too short for my fat little fingers but it has the same feel as the one above - photo 8Too short for my fat little fingers but it has the same feel as the one above.

Those are the different types of stylus that I have tried and I am not sure they have it right yet when it comes to drawing on the tablet and we will see how it changes in the next couple of years.

You are not a photocopy machine put some of yourself into the work... paint it as seen through your glasses, which are tinted with your experience.

We are trying to be tablet artists. I say we because it is a journey you will never stop learning and the technology will never stop improving...so welcome to the journey that never ends. But you know what they say the end is not what makes it great it is the journey we enjoy. Do not get frustrated with your lack of immediate success remember that I have been drawing my whole life.

I was a continuous doodler when young, sketcher and drawer in high school and university, painter and art teacher and serious artist for well over 30 years. They say to become an expert at something you need to put in at least 10,000 hours. This book is only so long, so get drawing and let us see what we can create. The greatest thing about being a tablet artist is no mess to clean up, goes everywhere and you can draw anytime you have a break... Why People Make Art. Commercial artists possess the special interests and artistic skills that the commercial world needs to produce and promote its goods and services.
