Start Thinking About Your Stomach
Gwen glanced at her note cards. "Oh, oh," she whispered as she stared at the blue inky smudges that had sweated onto her fingers. Worse, she felt a vague queasiness stir in her stomach. Why did she get so nervous just thinking about being in front of a group of people? After all, she knew everyone in her American history class.
She looked at Duane standing near the blackboard. He seemed relaxed as he talked about a young woman who had dressed as a man to fight in the Civil War. But Gwen couldn't listen for long. She started to go through her notes again.
"Thank you, Duane," she heard Mr. Landy say. Then he motioned to Gwen. "You're next."

Digestive diseases range from an occasional upset stomach or nausea to stomach cancer or ulcers. An ulcer is a sore on the stomach lining.
Whatever the cause, an upset stomach, sometimes accompanied by nausea or vomiting, is nasty. Upset stomachs caused by motion, too much food, or stress may respond to various helperssimple stress reducers like taking a deep breath or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. People can buy OTC medicines without a doctor's prescription, or written instructions. For other stomach woes, professional care is the best course of action.
You're Not Alone
If you sometimes get an upset stomach or indigestion, have an ulcer, or experience other digestive upsets, you are not alone. According to the National Institutes of Health, more than 95 million people in the United States experience some type of digestive problem. Digestion is the process of
