China Swee Hong has extensive experience in working with children and adults who have developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, learing difficulties and learing disadbilities. He is currently teaching at the School of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, University of East Anglia. He is the co-author of Living Skills of Mentally Handicapped People and editor of Activities Digest (also published by Winslow).
Helen Gabriel is a senior paediatric occupational therapist who has been working with children who have disabilities for 15 years. She is a Bobath-trained therapist. Helen is based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester. A high proportion of her time is spent working at Medcroft Opportunity Centre, a pre-school education centre for children with special needs in Winchester. She is the co-author of GEMSGuide to Early Movement Skills: A Portage-Based Programme.
Cathy St John qualified as an occupational therapist in 1984 and began working in a residential unit for adults with a learing disability. She began to form links with services for children, so developing an interest which led to a new post in community occupational therapy; when working in this role she was involved in establishing and managing the first school-based occupational therapy service in Enfield. Cathy is currently head OT with Enfield Community Health Care NHS Trust managing peadiatric, wheelchair and GP unit OT services and continues to develop peadiatric OT services within Enfield.
