Introduction
Elixir - a medicinal potion or aromatic preparation thought to have generalised curative or restorative properties. The word elixir was not used until the 7th century A.D. and derives from the Arabic name for miracle substances, "al iksir."
There are 2 main ingredients to making a crystal/gemstone elixir: crystals and mineral water or spring water.
Nearly all of us are aware that holding or carrying a crystal in our hand or somewhere on our person can bring the stones healing energies into our lives and our bodies. It is also possible to make remedies with crystals.
We are also aware that drinking water on a regular daily basis is good for us; keeping us hydrated and flushing toxins from our bodies.
But are you aware that water is a remarkable carrier of energy, both positive and negative. Books have been written on studies of water crystals and how the energy they store affects both the water and the drinker.
Water can be affected by the environment around it and in turn affect the people drinking it. This is what makes it ideal as an ingredient for crystal elixirs. It absorbs the powerful vibrations of the crystals, thus making Gem Essences or elixirs. Dependent on the toxicity of the stone, you can drink, apply to the skin, put in bath water or spray into a room.
During my research I came across 2 different methods of making elixirs, both are described briefly here.
Preparing your Crystals
Cleaning your crystals
Remember your crystals have come from in the ground, been transported and stored. There is also a good chance they have gathered dust and been cleaned with what could be contaminants.
You can wash them thoroughly or sterilise them by putting them in boiling water for at least 1 minute.
Cleansing Re-energising your crystals
There are a number of different methods for cleansing re-energising crystals 4 of the methods I came across are briefly described below. NB. Some crystals such as amethyst fade in sunlight and others are friable and can splinter, separate or disintegrate in water.
Dedicating and Programming Your Crystals
Here again there are differing ideas on how a crystal should be dedicated and programmed.
Some people prefer something simple and there are others that choose to create a ritual. There is no right or wrong way; what is most important is the intention, your intention.
When programming your crystal be sure to be precise and ask for exactly what you want.
A Simple Dedication Suggestion
Hold the crystal in the palm of your hand and say out loud
I dedicate this crystal for the highest good of all and
will only use it for the universal benefit of all
A simple Programming suggestion
Clear Quartz for Healing
This can be for past life, childhood, teenage years, a specific incident which happened to you, a forthcoming operation, chemo therapy etc.
Say precisely the condition and what you want to happen remember if you need pain and swelling to be taken away, also ask for the infection or cause to be healed. Formulate your request before you start the programming.
Hold the crystal in the palm of your hand, feel the crystal, tune into it. Then say out loud
I program this crystal for (and state your purpose). Thank you
The crystal can then be placed in your pocket, your handbag, under your pillow at night or put somewhere that you will see it regularly during the day. Pick it up and hold it several times during the day to gain greatest benefit.
A Guide to Making Crystal Elixirs
Method 1
This is the indirect method, which means the crystal does not come in contact with the water. This does not make the elixir any less effective but for novices/beginners this is the safest bearing in mind the toxicity of some of the crystals and that others can disintegrate and splinter in water. Using this method ensures the energy of the crystal is absorbed safely by the water.
What you will need
Making the Mother Tincture
Place the cleansed crystal into the clean glass jar and place the jar into the bowl of spring water. Position the bowl in a sunny position and leave for 12 hours. This is the Mother Tincture.
Remove the jar & crystal from the bowl and poor the Mother Tincture into the air tight glass bottle. This will keep for about a week in a cool dark place.
If you wish to keep it for longer, use either brandy or vodka 50/50 with the water as a preservative.
Making a Dosage Bottle
For Internal & External Use
Put 7 (seven) drops of the mother tincture into your dropper bottle, then fill with 1/3 (one-third) brandy 2/3 (two-thirds) water.
For Eyes
As eye drops, put 7 (seven) drops of the mother tincture into your dropper bottle, then fill with spring water. DO NOT add the alcohol. (Always seek the guidance of a practitioner.)
Method 2
This uses the direct method of putting the crystal into mineral water. Before using this method you need to ensure that the crystals are safe to use and that they have been thoroughly cleaned, cleansed and dedicated (see above).
What you will need
How to make
Place the crystals into one of the bottles and replace the cap, sealing the bottle. Write ELIXIR on one of the labels and stick it on the bottle.
Noting the time, place the bottle on to a windowsill & leave it there for 3 days. Go to the bottle each day at the same time touch it imagine the desired effects and how they will make you feel when they are achieved.
Having emptied the second bottle, on the third day pick up the bottle, shake it and pour the water into the second bottle. Write the name of the elixir on to another label (healing, love, whatever it is) and stick it on the bottle.
You know have your Elixir.
Cleanse / re-energise your crystals so that they can be used again.
How to use
At night, the last thing before you lay down to sleep, take a sip from the bottle; visualise/imagine your desired effect to help bring it about and believe that it will occur and feel that it has already happened. Repeat this first thing in the morning before you get up.
