INTRODUCTION

THE CHARLIE CHARLIE PHENOMENA

You may have recently became aware of what is being referred to as the Charlie Charlie Phenomena on social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, Vine and YouTube.

The Charlie Charlie Phenomena (also known as the Charlie Charlie Challenge or simply Charlie Charlie), is not new, however... I first heard of the practice in a book on magic than I found in the library of my elementary school... in 1973!

In this book, I intend to cover the phenomena in great detail- by the end of this volume, you will know what Charlie Charlie is, what it isn't, why you might want to avoid it or (for the very brave) how to do it if you so desire- I don't judge, I will simply supply the facts and let your draw your own conclusions and accept responsibility for your own actions (or lack thereof).

Ill also cover the occult and supernatural principles at work behind the scenes of the Charlie Charlie Phenomena. In addition, Ill also touch on such time-tested methods of divination such as:

- Ouija Boards

- Automatic Writing

- Mirror Scrying

- Channeling

- Fortune Telling

- and more!

Of course, as with any supernatural activity, there are forces at work which are not meant to be toyed around with, for your own safety. Ill show you how to properly close a session of Charlie Charlie in order to prevent yourself by anything from the Dark Side which may have wandered through when the portal was open.

SOME HISTORY

What is Charlie Charlie?

Charlie, according to the legend, is the name of a demon (or group of demons, in some stories) from Mexico. Although one would think that Carlito would be more appropriate for a demon of Mexican or Hispanic origin, Charlie is the name used in the current version of the story that is making the rounds.

As you may know, this idea of communicating with spirits is hardly a new phenomena. Throughout the ages and all over the world, humans have held the belief, some in private, that communication with the hereafter is possible. In fact, talking with the dead is mentioned in many great books, including the Bible, Macbeth and throughout the mythology of all folklore and cultures, both primitive and modern.

Albert Einstein expressed the probability of the existence of ghosts, and famed inventor Thomas Alva Edison was supposedly working on an electronic device to communicate with the dead. Could the inventor of the lightbulb and the phonograph have found a way to talk with those in there hereafter? Or did he accidentally find a way to contact the demon realm?

There is no way to know for sure if Edison ever completed the device or if it worked- but it is rumored that it worked too well, and Edison, scared of what he heard the dead saying, destroyed the device and burned all of his notes concerning it.

In more modern times, there was a surge of spiritualism at the dawn of the Victorian era. At the time, it was very in vogue to hold seance parties, where men and women of high society met and tried to call the spirits forth.

In those days, one employed a spirit medium, a type of necromancer who claimed they could communicate with spirits of deceased loved ones who had crossed over.

In addition to both partial and full bodied apparitions, it was common for spirit mediums of the time to also produce disembodied voices, sometimes heard through a ghostly horn or trumpet that seemed to float about the darkened parlor unaided.

Also during seances, it was not unusual for spirit mediums to produce items that had belonged to the deceased, such as a calling card holder or pocket watch for a male, a hair bow or piece of jewelry for a female, and a doll or stuffed animal from a child spirit. Another manifestation of spirits through the medium was also a type of sticky, slimy substance which was excreted during the seance.

In addition to physical signs as stated above, seances also would find mediums calling out to the spirits to perform simple tasks, such a blow out lit candles, move an object on the table, or even make a series of knocks or raps to answer simple questions.

Another common practice of the time was known as automatic writing, in which the medium went into a trance and allowed a spirit to write on paper with a pen he or she held in her hand. Later on, a process known as channeling was also popular, consisting of the spirit of the deceased or some other spiritual entity speaking through the medium on their own unique voice.

Other features of seances included table tapping or tipping, where the table would raise on one side or the other to indicate a spiritual presence. There were also reports of levitation in some seances, where those gathered around a table with their hands placed in a circle were actually able to witness rise up off the floor unaided by human hands.

Other cycles in the rise of spiritualism have also followed great wars. Spiritualism experienced a brief rise after the Civil War in the United States, and in both the US and UK after WWI- it is thought that the sheer devastation and loss of life during The Great War of WWI accounted for this increase in those attempting to contact fiends and loved ones who have moved on to the next plane of existence.

CHARLIE, CHARLIE...

Now that the history lesson is over, lets get to the heart of this book- The Charlie Charlie Game.

If youve watched any of the videos on Facebook or Vine or YouTube or any social media, you can see that the concept of Charlie Charlie is a simple one. In fact, Ive heard it referred to as the Worlds Easiest Ouija Board. All you need to play the game and start asking Charlie questions are as follows:

- Two #2 pencils, unsharpened

- A sheet of paper

Thats it! Now there is a little bit more of preparation to be done:

- Draw a cross in the middle of the paper

- Write the words Yes and No across the top two boxes formed by the cross

- Write the words No and Yes across the bottom two boxes formed by the cross

Now you are all set to play the most common form of Charlie Charlie. Although some people light candles, incense or have any other variety of items or totems on the playing area, in truth all you need is the two pencils and the sheet of typing paper.

Later on in this book Ill describe an alternate version of Charlie Charlie - photo 1

Later on in this book, Ill describe an alternate version of Charlie Charlie that doesnt require any paper, but instead a total of six pencils- each participant holds three in the shape of an open box, with the opening of your box pointed toward the other person. This variety of Charlie Charlie is popular in South American countries, and is also designed to answer Yes or No style questions.
