Getting Started
You learn to write the same way you learn a new sport or a musicalinstrument: Practice, practice, practice. The more you work at it,the better youll get.
Try to write something every single school day. Thiscan be a challenge at first, especially if you dont love writing! But it gets easier over time.
Amazing Writing Prompts has more than 200suggestions for writing topics, custom made for . You can do theprompts in order or skip around. If you get dizzy looking at themall, your teacher or another helper can guide you in choosing atopic. Some prompts will work better for you than others. Theimportant thing is to get something on that page. Some writers liketo use prompts for warmups before working on a longer piece.
In this book youll also find guidelines forcreating your own writing topics. Prompts from a book or a teacherare great, but your own ideas are even better.
Remember that most authors dont get their workperfect in one draft. Revision, re-writing, and proofreading areimportant parts of the process. Youll find revision suggestions inPart Two of Amazing Writing Prompts.
Save your finished work. When you look back at theend of the year, youll be surprised how much youve done!
