Basketball

Basketball is a sport.

Anyone can play.

You can play on a team.

You can play with friends.

You need a ball.

You need a hoop.

A good pair of shoes helps too.

You can play in a gym.

You can play outside.

You can play in a driveway.

How do you think
playing basketball
is different outside?

Two teams play

each other.

Players run up and down

the court.

Each team has a hoop on

one end of the court.

Players dribble the ball.

They pass it to teammates.

They shoot the ball into the hoop.

Why might you
pass the ball to
a teammate?

The other team tries to

stop them.

They take the ball away.

Then they get a chance

to score a basket.

Each basket is worth points.

The team with the most points wins

the game.

You could see a game at your

school.

You could go to an arena.

Many games are on TV.

Where else

Basketball is fun to watch.

It is fun to play too.
