Do you have 10 minutes ? Grabsome yarn and make the mostof that time by creating a coolnew bracelet, cell phone holder,or bookmark. These quick andeasy projects will inspire you.
General Supplies and Tools
- aluminum foil
- cardboard
- craft sticks
- glue (quick-drying)/low-temperaturehot glue
- recycled lids, bottles, cans, cups
- scissors
- toothpicks
- yarn
Tips
- Before starting a project, gather the supplies andtools needed.
- When weaving or wrapping something larger inyarn, leave the yarn attached to the ball to makesure you have enough.
- If you cut the yarn too short to finish a project,tie on another piece and keep going.
- Ask an adult to help you with sharp tools.
- Change things up! Dont be afraid to make theseprojects your own.
POM-POM,PLEASE!
Pom-poms are simple and easy to make.Experiment with different shapes andcolors. The possibilities are endless!
What You Need:
- scissors
- yarn
- googly eyes
- pipe cleaners
- fork/cardboard (optional)
What You Do:
- Cut a piece of yarn as long as yourhand. Lay it between your twomiddle fingers.
- Wrap more yarn loosely aroundthe outside of your hand, about20 times.
- With your free hand, loosely tie thepiece of yarn thats between yourfingers around the wrapped yarn.
- Slip the wrapped yarn off yourhand and pull the yarn tie tight.Double knot it.
- Cut the two yarn loops in half andtrim your pom-pom.
- To make animals, use short piecesof yarn to tie pom-poms together.Add googly eyes and pipe cleanersfor feelers/horns.
TIP To make a smaller pom-pom, use a fork instead of yourhand. You can also wrap yarn around a piece of cardboard.
SMILE AND BE HAPPY DOLL
Want to make someone smile ? Make this simplestick doll and give it as a gift. Clip it to afriends backpack or put it in a lockerto remind someone to smile.
What You Need:
- yarn
- large hole beads
- scissors
- quick-drying glue
- stick
- fabric pieces
- craft magnet orclothespin (optional)
- marker (optional)
What You Do:
- Cut a piece of yarn as long asyour hand. Fold it in half andthread the loop through the holeof a bead.
- Tie the loop of yarn in a knot, tightup against the bead. The loopshould be long enough to look likehair. Cut the loop in half and pullapart the strands to create hair.
- Glue the end of the bead withoutthe knot to the top of a smallstick. Wrap the two yarn strandsaround the top end of the stick tolook like a neck.
- Glue fabric pieces to the stick tolook like clothes. Add yarn piecesfor extra decoration.
TIP Glue a craft magnet or clothespin to the backof the doll. Add faces with a marker, if you wish.

Go wild! Use your imagination and shape foil intoany animal you can think of. How abouta hummingbird ? Perhaps you like octopuses ? Pick one and get making!
