dedication
This book is dedicated to Glenn, my very special husband, best friend, art critic and steadfast encourager. Thank you for your love, wise counsel, patience, support and for believing in me.
acknowledgments
This is without a doubt the most important and challenging project that I have ever undertaken. Much thanks to my editor, Jamie Markle, for his guidance and for keeping me on track. Without a great editor, this job would be truly overwhelming. Thank you to everyone at North Light that had a part in the designing of this book.
A special thank you to Sandra Carpenter and Rachel Wolf for giving me the opportunity to write Watercolor Simplified.
And to all the many students who have been supporting me throughout the years; Ive learned so much from each of you, and without you this book would not be possible. Sharing what I know about painting is one of the greatest joys in my life.

foreward
The watercolor medium is much more versatile than a lot of people realize. There are many ways to approach it, but without a doubt the best way to begin a painting is with a sense of adventure. Watercolor is a very spontaneous and active medium, and this is particularly true at the hand of Pat Weaver.
I am fortunate to count Pat as one of my very good friends and I am forever amazed at her ability to get things accomplished. She is an exceptional artist, and has a tremendous talent and dedication for teaching as well. Pat brings an understanding to the fluid and exciting aspects of painting in watermediashe is fearless in her application, and the resulting art is enchanting in its freshness.
