My love for beading began in junior high, before I had pierced ears. After many frustrating searches for cool clip earrings, I decided to learn how to make my own. Ive been designing beaded jewelry ever since. And youve probably heard it before, but beading can be addictive! Now I want to put beads on everything. And thats where I got the idea for this book.
Adding beads to a finished surface, whether its a gift box, a candleholder or a denim jacket, gives that piece a personality and sparkle that makes it uniquely yours.

Beads, tools, adhesives and other supplies that are used in this book are identified and explained. Theres even a section on organizers. Lets get started! Beads Anything with a hole in it can be used as a bead. In fact, the earliest beads were made from natural materials such as shells, stones, animal bones and teeth.

Today, beads still are made from those materials, in addition to a variety of others. They are available in a myriad of colors, styles, shapes and sizes. Every culture has used beads in some way, which makes beading one of the most ancient, cross-cultural art forms. Seed Beads Named for their resemblance to seeds, seed beads are typically sold by size. The smaller the number, the larger the size; hence size 6/0 beads (also called E beads) are larger than size 11/0 beads.
