About the Author

Francesco Marchioni is a Sun Certified Enterprise Architect employed by an Italian company based in Rome. He started learning Java in 1997, and since then he has followed the path to the newest Application Program Interfaces released by Sun. He joined the JBoss Community in 2000, when the application server was running the release 2.X.

He has spent many years as a software consultant, where he has overseen many successful software migrations from vendor platforms to open source products such as JBoss AS, fulfilling the tight budget requirements of current times.

Over the last five years, he started authoring technical articles for O'Reilly Media and running an IT portal focused on JBoss products (http://www.mastertheboss.com).

In December 2009, he published the title "JBoss AS 5 Development", which describes how to create and deploy Java Enterprise applications on JBoss AS: http://www.packtpub.com/jboss-as-5-development/book.

In December 2010, he published his second title, "JBoss AS 5 Performance Tuning", which describes how to deliver fast and efficient applications on JBoss AS: http://www.packtpub.com/jboss-5-performance-tuning/book

I need to thank a lot of people for this book. First, I owe my hearty thanks to the JBoss community which helped me through this journey in developing a completely new product. In particular, I'd like to thank Jaikiran for sharing his experience as a reviewer of the book, improving its quality substantially. I'd like also to express my gratitude to Packt Publishing team that shared with me the challenge to write a book which was already rewritten many times as application server changed its skin. Last but not least, I'd like to thanks my wife Linda, who has kept doing housework patiently while I was writing the book, just asking when that damned JBoss thing will end.

This book is dedicated to my family who have always been there for me and in particular to my child Alessandro who's only four but wants to be an actor in theater. Never doubt about your dreams Alessandro, no matter how crazy they might be .
