No doubt those questions havent left cricket aficionados remotely stumped, but be prepared to be caught out by the 1,000 leg-breaking quiz questions in this book. Your innings will require you to recall facts and figures relating to every possible aspect of the game of cricket from players to umpires and national to international matches, together with all kinds of trivia, so you could very easily find yourself in a real spin and may need to enlist the help of friends to bail you out before a sneaky Chinaman bowls you over, slips you up or reduces you to a pile of ashes. Whether you find yourself top of the batting order or limping with a square leg, this book, with a fitting foreword by Dickie Bird, contains a wealth of knowledge about the sport that is guaranteed to enthral all cricket fans, and questions that will stimulate fond memories and friendly debates for many an entertaining hour.

Cover Design: Siobhan Smith Authors Note Please can you contact me: Dedication We would like to dedicate this book to: Dickie Bird - a true Cricket legend! Foreword I was brought up to believe that having respect for others is the greatest virtue of all. I have tried to live my life with this in mind and it has served me well. People I have met from all walks of life - sporting greats to kids on the park alike - have gone out of their way to return the compliment and this has made me the person I am today.

It has also resulted in a number of close friendships that I still hold very dear. My career in cricket has spanned many years, both as a player and then as an umpire, where I was fortunate enough to achieve every honour the game had to offer; of this I am immensely proud. From the playing fields of Barnsley to international cricket shrines across the world, my love of sport in general and cricket in particular has never faded. Reflecting on my career in cricket, people often ask, What is your proudest moment? to which I always reply, I am proud never to have forgotten my roots. My parents struggled to give me the best they could afford and for that I will always be grateful. When I retired from umpiring, I decided that I wanted to use my position in the public eye to give something back and to help those young people who were in the financially disadvantaged position I had found myself.

In my view, every child - regardless of their circumstances - should have the opportunity to take part in the sport of their choice, to get themselves fit and get away from the street corners and television. The Dickie Bird Foundation was therefore launched in 2004 and has since become the biggest part of my life. With a small number of trustees, we are now going from strength to strength. The Foundation offers grants to help financially disadvantaged children take part in their chosen sport. These have ranged from horse riding, ice skating, karate and athletics to football, rugby and cricket - there have been many more. Turning to this book, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the publishers for their significant support for my Foundation.

As you might imagine, I am often asked questions about the laws of cricket, the players, the clubs and everything else to do with the game. This quiz book will hopefully leave you with the feeling that you have learned something new, recalled things you had forgotten - and then quickly forgotten them again. You may be of expert standard and be able to answer all the questions. You may be a bar room bore who knows nothing about everything. You could even be the next Dickie Bird: someone who has a lifetime of cricketing knowledge - but still sometimes manages to forget the most famous players names. I hope you enjoy the book and remember, by purchasing this, you too are doing your bit to help financially disadvantaged children.

Best Wishes Dickie Bird MBE Introduction I would first of all like to thank Dickie Bird for writing the foreword to this book. Dickie is a true cricket legend and I am very grateful for his help on this project. I am honoured to donate 1 from each book sale to Dickies The Dickie Bird Foundation Charity. It is a registered charity - www.thedickiebirdfoundation.org - and the foundation was established by Dickie in March 2004, with the aim of helping disadvantaged young people, nationwide, to participate in sport. I would like to thank the Grants Officer of The Dickie Bird Foundation, Les Smith, for his support in creating this book. It has been great working with Adam Pearson again, as we have worked together on a few football titles (see the back of this book), and working with Alan Finch in compiling this publication has been a lot of fun.

I hope you enjoy this book. Hopefully it should bring back some wonderful memories whatever team or country you follow! In closing, I would like to thank all my friends and family for encouraging me to complete this project.
