A Perfect Day in Vienna
9.00am
Breakfast
A hearty Alpine breakfast is a great set-up for the day, so eat your fill either from your hotel buffet or from the diet-busting breakfast menu at Caf Drechsler.
10.00am
Royal Place
Kick off your day of Viennese sightseeing at the Stephansdom, the city's epicentral attraction. After climbing to the top of the tower to survey the Austrian capital from above, hop aboard the U-Bahn for the short ride southwest to Schloss Schnnbrunn, the Habsburg's baroque masterpiece. You'll just have time to take a tour of the 40 dazzling rooms (out of a whopping 1,440) before returning to the city centre.
12 noon
Lunch
Take your midday pangs to tiny Immervoll for some authentic Viennese fare in the company of the city's office workers, or Trzesniewski for a traditional open sandwich with lunchtime diners on the hop.
1.00pm
Museum visit
After lunch take the U-Bahn or tram to the famous MuseumsQuartier. You'll only have time to view a couple of the many venues here, so choose carefully beforehand, according to your interests. MUMOK and Leopold Museum are top choices, and across the road stands the superb Kunsthistorisches Museum. Cafs are plentiful throughout if you need to refuel.
