Curious Goods: Behind the Scenes of Friday the 13th: The Series: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Curious Goods: Behind the Scenes of Friday the 13th: The Series" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Lewis Vendredi made a deal with the devil to sell cursed antiques, but he broke the pact, and it cost him his soul. His niece Micki, and her cousin Ryan, inherited the store-and with it, the curse. Now they must get everything back-and the real terror begins. So opens Friday the 13th: The Series. In 1987, Paramount Studios found success selling a new Star Trek series into syndication. Eager to cash in on other studio-owned properties, Paramount asked producer Frank Mancuso Jr. to develop a series around Friday the 13th, and the television series was born. It had nothing to do with the popular slasher film franchise, which was both a blessing and curse. It was a largely young, inexperienced cast and crew, and one of the first Hollywood productions to shoot entirely in Canada. In the first-ever examination of the TV series, author Alyse Wax delves into the series episode-by-episode, with more than sixty exclusive interviews with the cast, writers, directors, and producers, as well as nearly fifty never published behind-the-scenes photos from the cast and crews personal collections. ALYSE WAX has been covering television and the horror industry for over a decade. She was the Associate Editor of the dearly departed FEARnet.com, and currently writes for a number of geeky, freaky places, including ComingSoon.net, Fangoria, ShockTillYouDrop.com, and Blumhouse.com.

Afterword

Louise Robey quit acting after appearing in the direct-to-video thriller, Play Nice in 1992. She married into British royalty in 1994 and had a son, James, but the marriage ended in 2001. (Can you imagine the flame-haired, outspoken actress being pegged into a Downton Abbey -style life?) Louise married again, a photographer, who passed away in 2010. She currently lives in France, where she is working on a variety of music and writing projects.

John D. LeMay never quite became the movie star his agents wanted him to become. After leaving Friday the 13th: The Series, John had a handful of television guest spots and returned in Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993). He is still acting, though focusing on musical theater, most recently appearing in a musical version of James Joyces The Dead in Los Angeles. John has entered the filmmaking space with feat1stfilms, directing videos and documentary shorts. He is married and has two daughter.

Steve Monarque continued acting and added writing and directing to his resume. Most recently, he has written, directed, and starred in Simpler Times, a short film starring Jerry Stiller that has been gaining acclaim on the festival circuit.

I was unable to speak to Chris Wiggins about his role as Jack Marshak. While still alive as of June 2014, he was in poor health and his caregiver said he was not available. I hope that he gets a chance to know about this book, and know that he has left a legacy that lives on with fans.

There were a few guest stars who, unfortunately, have passed in the years since Friday the 13th: The Series aired. R.G. Armstrong (Uncle Lewis) died in 2012 of natural causes. Denis Forest (Brain Drain, The Mephisto Ring, Cupids Quiver, My Wife as a Dog) died in 2002 after suffering a massive stroke. Neil Munro (The Charnel Pit, Better Off Dead, Epitaph for a Lonely Soul) died in 2009 after a long struggle with cancer. Cliff Gorman (Doctor Jack) died from leukemia in 2002. Others have retired from the limelight and I could not get in touch with them (Carolyn Dunn, Susannah Hoffmann, Tara Meyer, producer Jon Andersen); very few outright declined to speak with me (Vanity, John Bolger, Gordon Pinset, Tom McCamus), and all said they had nothing to add.

If you would have told me twenty years ago that I would make Friday the 13th: The Series a huge part of my career, I wouldnt have believed you. The series always seemed so far removed from regular life. As a teen, my fandom into the series felt like fantasy role-play. It didnt feel real.
