Prepare for the US Citizenship interview by completing a series of ten interviews based on the USCIS N-400 Application for Naturalization (released 03/26/16 and expires 03/31/19).     What happens after I send myN-400? About two tothree weeks after you send in your N-4000, you will receive anN-400 Receipt letter from USCIS. On the top of the letter, there isa 13-character Receipt Number begins with three letters such as(EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC). Use the Receipt Number to check your casestatus . Dependingon the local USCIS Field Office Case load (processing times), you will receive aFingerprint (biometrics) appointment letter from USCIS. Go to theUSCIS field office at the scheduled place, date, and time. Bringyour appointment letter, Green Card, and photo identification.

    Thisis a quick appointment to take a digital copy of your fingerprintsand photo. The USCIS will use your biometrics information to run asecurity (background) check. The USCIS officer will not interviewyou beyond verifying your name andidentification. After the USCISofficer, takes you fingerprints and photo, the officer also giveyou a copy of the M-638 Quick Civics Lessons which includes a CD of the 100 civics questions.Go home and study ! Butremember, most of the interview is focused on the N-400 plus youmust read and write one sentence, so use this timewisely. The NaturalizationInterview After the USCIS completes yourbackground check, you will receive a citizenship Interviewappointment letter from USCIS. Go to the USCIS field office at thescheduled place, date, and time.

    Over 90% of the applicants for U.S.Citizenship pass the Naturalization Interview the first time. Someapplicants, however, dont pass one of the tests (usually the N-400section). If that happens, the USCIS will re-schedule interview onetime for free. At the second test, the applicant will only betested on the section they missed. The Oath of AllegianceCeremony After theapplicants pass the interview, he or she will receive an invitationto their Oath of AllegianceCeremony during which they willswear allegiance to the United States.
