Chapter 1 The Tournament Begins K ayso Raven is the strongest warrior of his - photo 1

Chapter 1

The Tournament Begins

K ayso Raven is the strongest warrior of his medium-sized medieval village. Its approximately eleven in the morning, and the village chief has announced a tournament between ten other villages to see which village has the strongest warrior. Their chief, standing in the town square, said to the entire village that began to gather as he spoke, Every one of the village Hythe Due to a letter that I have received this morning, the tournament will start in two days from now. Do what you need to do to prepare for the tournament.

Otto said nervously, Damn it, we only have two days before the tournament, then asked himself, Do I have enough time to prepare?

Aua said to Otto, Well, you could take this time to think about the strategy youll use to defeat your opponents.

Kayso said to himself, This is going to be fun. I can finally test my skills on other highly skilled opponents.

As Aua and Otto talked about the tournament, Kayso goes to talk to the chief. As the chief walked off of the platform of the town square, Kayso approached him and said, Excuse me, Chief.

The chief asked with a smile, Ah, Kayso, what is it that you need?

Kayso asked, What are the rules for the tournament?

The chief said in a sly tone and a chuckle, Ha ha, you see thats what makes it fun because there are no rules.

Kayso asked, So wait, killing is allowed?

The chief said with a slightly crazed smile, Oh yeah, thats what makes this whole tournament fun. Then he asked, Its boring if you just knock them out, wouldnt you agree?

As Kayso stared at the chief with a confused expression, a shopkeeper shouted in the distance, Stop, thief !

Kayso turned to see someone in a cloak running in the opposite direction, then he began to run after the cloaked figure into the forest. The cloaked figure took a sharp right turn and disappeared. Kayso wandered through the forest for half an hour, and while he was looking for the cloaked figure, he saw broken trees, the ground burned, and charred rocks everywhere. Kayso decided to follow the path of destruction, and as he got closer, he heard explosive rumbling sounds in the distance ahead. As Kayso went to investigate, what he saw sent him into a state of shock. It was the size of a small mountain (two hundred feet in height and four hundred feet in length). Kayso fell back in fear, and the giant beast looked at him with all of its ten heads.

As Kaysos eyes slowly began to open, he could hear Ottos voice saying, I think hes waking up.

Aua shouted in relief, Kayso!

The chief said in a worried tone, Cmon, please get up.

Kayso got up very slowly and asked, holding his head in pain, Wh-what happened?

Aua said, Youre at the doctor, you were struck by lightning.

Kayso asked, in pain, trying to sit up straight, Where was I struck?

Otto said, Your chest took the most damage, and we found you indented into a boulder in front of a giant cave about half an hour away.

Kayso said with a scared look on his face, I-I remember seeing something. It was the size of a small mountain and had ten heads and looked like a dragon.

The chiefs eyes widened as he said in a fearful tone, Yndryrrid, the universal destroyer has awoken from his thousand-year slumber, very dark times are upon us.

Aua asked, How bad is this ten-headed dragon?

The chief said nervously, Each head has the power of an element. Fire, lightning, ice, and so on. Ten elements put together to make one dragon is very catastrophic. They say it belonged to the evil gods. And now I dont know if we can go on with the tournament.

Kayso said with a surprised expression, Noyou cant stop the tournament just because of a dragon. There are lots of other villages out there. Then he asked, Whats the chance of it coming here anyway?

The chief paced the floor for a minute, then said, Maybe youre right, this world is massive, it might go back to its slumber before coming here.

Sometime around four hours went by, and they decided not to tell anyone about the dragon, and the chief said, Since we dont want the people to start a panic, well keep this between us. He turned to Kayso, Just get some rest, okay.

As Kayso nodded his head, he lay down and went to sleep. About two hours went by, and Kayso woke up to the sound of footsteps. When he looked where the footsteps were coming from, he saw what looked like a female with long black hair, about 5'6" in height, and a seven-foot staff. She got to the door and turned around to face Kayso. Kayso tried, but he couldnt see her face. She pointed toward Kaysos legs, and as he looked to where she pointed, he saw a note. Kayso looked back at the woman, but she was gone. He decided to read the note, and the note read:

[Dear Kayso, I am the one you just saw before you started to read this note. My name is Samantha Raven, and Im here to help you. Your life is in grave danger by Yndryrrid, the universal destroyer. You have already come in contact with the beast in the forest. By the time you have read this, I will have told your chief about your life. Go to my hut and retrieve my dark elemental scroll. You will need it to help you along your way. My hut is half a mile west of your village. There is a map on the back of this note. Goodbye, from Samantha Raven.]

Kayso said to himself in a confused tone, Well, thats weird, she has my last name. This note is weird too. Then he asked, Why do I need a scroll?

Kayso started to get out of bed, but before he got his blanket off, he heard something move on the left side of his bed. He looked on the floor, to the left side of his bed, and saw Aua lying next to him. Kayso got out of bed, walked over to Aua, picked her up, put her on the bed, and put the blanket over her, then he walked out of the doctors.

Kayso took the note out of his pocket and flipped it over to look at the map on the back, and just as Kayso went to find the hut, the chief asked him, Kayso, where are you off to, are you not supposed to be resting?

Kayso said, Im just in the mood for a walk.

The chief said, Well, in that case, Im going with you.

Kayso asked, Do you need to take that sword?

The chief said with confidence, Yeah, gotta keep an eye out for thieves and bandits.

Kayso said, Okaylets go.

As Kayso and the chief walked, Kayso heard a whistling noise. Kayso quickly pushed the chief out of the way, then they heard an arrow pierce into a tree next to them. As Kayso looked in the opposite direction from the arrow, the chief got up, pointed toward the trees in front of them, and asked, Who is that?

Kayso looked to where the chief was pointing and saw a hooded figure with two horns coming out of the top left and right sides of the hood, then Kayso said to the chief, Give me your sword, Ill take care of this.

The chief nodded his head and gave Kayso the sword, and Kayso shouted, Why dont you fight without your bow !

The hooded figure tilted its head slightly, then pulled out a dagger, and Kayso asked, Wait, are you the one I sawum Samantha?

The figure tilted its head in confusion, then darted toward Kayso. Kayso swung the sword at the figure, but the figure limboed under the sword, and the figure swung its dagger at Kaysos side, but he just was fast enough to dodge the attack. As Kayso and the figure fought for about two minutes, Kayso noticed that the figure didnt have a bow. The figure swung its dagger at Kaysos throat, but Kayso hit the dagger with the sword and sent it flying, getting lodged into a tree, and Kayso said with his arms extended, dropping the sword, Whoa, whoa, wait a minute.

The figure stopped and looked at Kayso as he asked, Where is the bow you used to shoot the arrow at me with?
