POKER ETIQUETTE
Doing the proper thing at a poker table isnt just good for its own sake, it can make your table a happier place to be for everyone, and a place more conducive to winning money for you.
Be polite. It will make you feel better, and make other people feel better (and also less likely to snap at you).
Be clean (theres nothing quite like sitting next to someone for eight hours when they havent taken a shower in weeks. Dont be that someone).
Dont make a habit of bending the rules or shooting angles.
Act in turn.
Dont splash the pot.
Dont make a habit of taking forever to make decisions.
Dont discuss the hand while its still going on, especially if youre not in it.
Especially dont advise a player whos still in the hand, or solicit advice while youre playing.
Dont gloat when you win; dont even get chatty and giggly.
Dont sulk when you lose; say, nice hand and mean it.
Its not the dealers fault youre losing; dont act like it somehow is.
Talking is okay; droning on ceaselessly about banal trivia is not.
Dont criticize another players play; either hes right and youre not (in which case youre acting like a fool) or hes a fish and youre running the risk of alienating him and making him leaveor making him play better (in which case you are also acting like a fool).
Dont slowroll; for the love of everything that is holy to you, do not slowroll.
If you accidentally slowroll, apologize profusely and immediately.
Try not to use foul language. Yes, it sounds a bit Sunday-schoolish, but many people are offended by it. And what do you gain by using it?
Tip when and where customary.
