Some of the information for the Robinsons and Davis comes from the notes of Mary Jane Robinson and J. Ben Robinson through Elizabeth Ann Turners genealogical report of June, 1981. Subsequent material came from questions asked and hours of research.

In
West Virginia
Edmund Robinson was born in 1495 in the Glasgow Area of Scotland and died February 2, 1571/1573 In York, England. According to information collected from a Mrs. Wilkinson, the present (1994) owner of the vicarage in Cleasby, Edmund Robinson was the father of John Robinson, born 1520, of Crostwick who lived in the Parish of Rumbald Kirk, Yorkshire, England. They had a son John.
John Robinson born c: 1520 in Crostwick, Corn, England died c;1600 Crostwick, Rumbaldkirk Parish, England. He married Ann Emmot Savage (daughter of Francis and Anne (Sheddon)Savage. She was born c: 1525. They had a son John. There is no indication of other children that I could find.
Reverend John Robinson was born c:1550/1557 in Crostwick, Rumbald Kirk Parish, England and died abt. 1582. He married Ann Dent born c:1554/1561 of Yorkshire, England her death date could not be determined. They had two known children Richard, b: abt. 1583, d: abt. 1633., and George.
George Robinson was born about 1582 in Cleasby Parish, North Riding, Yorkshire, England and died abt. January 15, 1633. He married Frances Layton in 1610. Frances was born abt.1589 in Yorkshire, England, the daughter of Thomas Layton, and died April, 1648. They had seven known Children; William, Richard, Clara, Margaret, Elizabeth, Thomas, Richard and John.
The first Richard, born (date unk.) in Cleasby Parish immigrated to Lancaster County, Virginia. There is some indication that he was married to an Anne, but if so her last name could not be determined and there was no further information available. Immigration records show Richard entered the United States in 1656 with sons Giles and John. There is no indication if/that his wife accompanied him to the Colonies.
From the Ann Turner document:
On October 6, 1656, Vincent Stanford was granted 700 acres of land in Lancaster County, Virginia, land that was due him for headrights claimed for transporting 14 persons into the Virginia Colony. The laws of early colonial Virginia provided that every person over 16 years of age who came into the colony was entitled to 50 acres of land, a grant known as a headright.
Many persons seeking homes in Virginia assigned their headright to others in payment for their transportation. Among the 14 persons named in Stanfords grant were Richard and Giles Robinson.
Giles Robinson was born in 1639 in Cleasby Parish, Rumbald Kirk, Yorkshire, England and died in 1699 in Lancaster County Virginia. Nothing could be found as to a marriage or a wife.
Giles Established his residence near the headwaters of the Corotoman Creek in that part of Lancaster County Virginia, later included in St. Marys White Chapel Parish. There the family remained until his son William Robinson moved to Fauquier County, Virginia around 1790 (near the present town of Marshall, Virginia.
