The other children in the neighborhood think the house might be haunted. The new girls befriend the neighborhood kids and when strange things begin happening at the new home, all of the children work together to investigate. They find out there isnt a ghost but rather two mischievous boys behind the pranks... Alex: Considering thelast few families, Ill give them 4 weeks, tops. Dave: No way! Mostare freaked out and staying some place else after only 3. Emily: Well, maybethis time it wont happen Dave: Why do youthink this summer would be any different? For the last 4 summers,that house sells, a new family moves in, and a short time later,they are gone! Must be haunted. Cassie: Theres nosuch thing as ghosts, right? [Looks at the others, nervous] Dave: Why do they allmove out then? Jake: Yeah, andnobody knows what happened to Mrs. Stinkle all those years ago.

Emily: My parentssaid she didnt die there. If she had, we wouldve known aboutit. Alex: I cant thinkof any other explanation for why people dont stay then. I mean,its a nice house in a nice neighborhood, so why would they moveout so quickly? All Others: [Shrugs] Cassie: My mom saidthat this family has kids around our ages. It would be extra scaryto be a kid living in a haunted house! Emily: Yeah, I feelbad for them. Jake: Dudes, Imtelling you, ghosts arent real! Emily: I hope youreright Dave: So, when doesthe new family move in? Alex: Today.

Cassie: Ooo, I hopetheres a girl my age. Jake: I hope theresa boy my age. Dave: Why waste timegetting to know them when theyre just going to end up movingout? Emily: We dont knowthat for sure. Alex: Yeah, maybethis time itll be different. SCENE 2 NEW GIRLS ARE SETTING UP THEIR BEDROOM Mom: [Standing indoorway] Your new room is looking great, girls! Lizzie: Yeah, I thinkso too. Maddie: I love ithere.

Mom: And, you reallywant to share a bedroom? Theres enough space here so you couldeach have your own. Lizzie: Itsokay. Maddie: I just feelbetter when I have a bad dream and Lizzie sleeping nearby. Mom: [To Lizzie] Andyou really dont mind sharing with Maddie? Lizzie: [Shrugs] Idont mind for now. Mom: Okay, I need tokeep unpacking. [Walks away] Lizzie: [Sits onMaddies bed] Maddie, what was your bad dream about last night? Maddie: [Pauses andthen sits next to Lizzie] It was really scary. [Walks away] Lizzie: [Sits onMaddies bed] Maddie, what was your bad dream about last night? Maddie: [Pauses andthen sits next to Lizzie] It was really scary.

There was a ghosthere, at our new house. Lizzie: [HugsMaddie] You know that ghosts arent real, right Maddie? Maddie: I guess[Shrugs] Lizzie: I think weshould try to make some new friends and then youll forget allabout the bad dream and the ghost. Maddie: Okay. SCENE 3 NEW GIRLS WALK OVER TO MEET THE NEIGHBORHOODKIDS WHO ARE SITTING OUT IN FRONT OF THEIR HOUSE Cassie: Im sobored! Jake: Its so hotout! Dave: Theresnothing to do. Alex: Hey look, herecome the new kids. [Points] Lizzie: Hi.

ImLizzie and this is my sister, Maddie. We just moved in across thestreet. All Neighbor Kids: Hi. Maddie: What are yournames and how old are you guys? Alex: Im Alex andIm 12. Maddie: Lizzies 12too. Dave: Dave and Im11.

Cassie: My name isCassie, Daves sister. And, Im 7. Emily: Hi. Im Emilyand Im 9. Maddie: Hey, Im 9too! Emily: Cool! Jake: Jake here. Im7.

Alex and Emily are my brother and sister. Alex: Where did youmove from? Maddie: Iowa. Emily: How do youlike your house? Lizzie: We loveit. Maddie: We haventhad a house of our own for a long time. Alex: What do youmean? Lizzie: Our dad ismissing in Iraq. [Pauses]So did you know the family that moved out very well? Neighbor Kids: [Lookaround at each other] Alex: There hasntbeen a family living there since last summer and they didnt stayfor very long. [Pauses]So did you know the family that moved out very well? Emily: Yeah, andits been like that every summer for the last 3 years. Maddie: What do youmean? Dave: It means wefigure youll be gone by the end of the month, give-or-take aweek. Cassie: Dave, benice. Lizzie: Why do thefamilies leave? Jake: We dont knowfor sure, but some people think your house is haunted. Lizzie: Thatsridiculous! Alex: Well, we cantthink of any other reason why families would move in and then moveout only a few weeks later. CAMERA SCANS TO WOODS WHERE A MASKED FIGUREIS HIDING SCENE 4 NEW GIRLS ARE GETTING READY TO GO TOSLEEP Maddie: [In bed] Butmommy, those kids said this house is haunted.

Mom: [Sitting on theside of Maddies bed] Maddie, for the last time, there is no suchthing as ghosts. Those kids were just trying to scare you. Now getsome sleep. Good night. [Kisses her on forehead and leaves] Maddie: Lizzie, Imscared. Lizzie: Try toforget about it.

Moms right. Please go to sleep. Maddie: Okay. [Girls fall asleep] LATER THAT NIGHT Camera focuses on digital clock showing3am Steve: [Makes ahowling/moaning sound] Lizzie: [Sits up inbed] Maddie, did you hear that? Maddie: [Half Asleep]Did I hear what? Steve: [Makes ahowling/moaning sound] [Maddie sits up in bed, scared] Lizzie: You, youheard it that time, right? Maddie: [Runs toLizzie and hugs her] I, I wish I hadnt. [Pause] W-w-what wasthat? Lizzie: I dontknow. Steve: [Makes ahowling/moaning sound] Lizzie: Okay, look, Iknow this is scary, but theres got to be an explanation for it.

Idont want whatever that is to scare us away. Maddie: What are wegoing to do? Lizzie: Lets go findout whats making that noise before it wakes up mom. Come on![Grabs flashlight from under her pillow, gets up and starts walkingfor the door, motioning Maddie to follow] Maddie: Lizzie, Imscared. [Grabs Lizzies hand] Lizzie: Its goingto be okay. Come on. DOWNSTAIRS STEVE RUNS BY THE WINDOW WEARING A HAIRY MASK GIRLS SEE HIM RUN BY Lizzie: Did you seethat? Maddie: What wasit? Lizzie: Im not sure,but it seemed too real to be a ghost.

I mean, arent you supposedto be able to see through ghosts? Maddie: Yeah, and itlooked more hairy than youd imagine most ghosts to be. Lizzie: Im going tocheck outside. Stay right behind me. [Opens front door and seesbloody finger on front step with flashlight Camera focuses onfinger while Lizzie screams] Maddie: What is it?[Scared] Lizzie: [Holds Maddieback] Maddie, its a bloody finger. You dont want to see it. Imgoing to get it cleaned up so mom doesnt find it.
