Welcome to Denver, where urban style and outdoor casual coexist and residents enjoy more sunny days year-round than cities in California or Florida. No longer heralded as the Queen City of the Plains, Denver is now called the Mile High City a reminder of its 5,280-feet-above-sea-level status and its 140-mile vista of the Rocky Mountains to the west.

Denver has grown up a lot in recent years, and has finally found maturity by capitalizing on its natural assets and embracing its Western roots. No longer a cowtown, this diverse city includes neighborhoods rich in ethnic and local foods, cutting-edge architecture, one-of-a-kind historic sights, packed bars and nightclubs, and an abundance of open spaces.

With 20,000 acres of city parks and 200 miles of bicycling and jogging trails, Denver offers recreation as a way of life for the increasingly urban population. If you crave the grandeur and ski slopes of the mountains, you can get there quickly from downtown Denver or you can find a trail for hiking, snowshoeing, or cycling in the foothills of Golden or Boulder, less than one hour away by car.

Between the exciting attractions in the city, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Commons Park, and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the easy proximity to the mountains, the city has something to offer the weekend visitor, the university student, the snowboard enthusiast, the business traveler, and the newly relocated family. Revitalized, all grown-up, and still looking for ways to improve, this unique western metropolis reigns as the unofficial capital of the Rocky Mountain West.

The countrys 10th-largest downtown is pedestrian-friendly with iconic sights like the Brown Palace Hotel and the modern Big Blue Bear sculpture. Major sights in adjacent neighborhoods, such as the Black American West Museum in Five Points, are also just steps away. The bulk of the citys hotels are located in the heart of downtown, and many visitors find that this is the perfect spot to stay since it is so close to many of the citys historic and cultural sights, upscale restaurants, and lively bars in adjacent neighborhoods.

With the Denver Art Museum as an anchor, the Golden Triangle has become a cultural destination; with several high-rise condominiums, its also an up-and-coming residential urban neighborhood. Beyond the Golden Triangle, hip galleries, diverse restaurants, eclectic shops, and dynamic dance clubs and bars have brought vibrancy to the La Alma and Lincoln Park neighborhoods and the South Broadway corridor, popularly known as SoBo.
