Book Description
Known as the Vampire Rapist or Strangler Bill for his distinctive modus operandi, Wayne Boden would rape, strangle and bite the breasts of his victims.
His murdering rampage would continue in two cities over three years; he was only caught by superior evidence gathering and the help of an orthodontist. This book asks the question of How do we really know our boyfriend or lover when we dont want to ask the questions, not only because we dont want to know the answers for what it will tell us about them, but because of what it tells us about ourselves?
True Crime Author Alan R. Warren takes you through the details of the case including the dental impressions used in court to convict Boden, a first in Canadian history, as well as Boden's escape from a maximum-security prison.

Award-winning true crime author & criminologist
German psychiatrist Richard von Kraft-Ebing introduced both the terms sadistic and masochism in 1890. According to Sigmund Freud, inflicting and receiving pain for sexual gratification is the most common and important of all perversions. Both Kraft-Ebing and Freud would have had an excellent prototype in serial killer Wayne Boden.
Wayne Clifford Boden (c. 1948 2006), a Canadian serial killer known to be active during 1969-1971, was dubbed The Vampire Rapist for his penchant of biting the victims breasts and enjoying the experience of tasting the blood. It was one of these bites that led to the investigation and then the arrest of Boden that landed him in prison; Boden was ensconced in Kingston Penitentiary, residing there briefly until his slick con game gave him access to an American Express credit card, forcing a billion dollar company to examine just how a man convicted for life in prison obtained perfect credit.
This is a story of all things that make true crime interesting and educating. Bodens was the first North American conviction based on forensic odontology, before Ted Bundys trial made the investigative practice common knowledge. Thus, his story is one of breakthrough forensic work. Using the name Bill he managed to charm and woo innocent women, some of them paying for their trust with an early grave. Bodens personality gives insight into how a sadistic, evil mind can so easily be masked by good looks and charm. Friends of the last victim gave the best lead in identifying Bill, ultimately leading to the arrest, an example of the policemans best crime fighting tool: witnesses.
Kraft-Ebing and Freud were adept at introducing the sadomasochist; Alan R. Warren is adept at telling this story of Wayne Clifford Boden. Alan offers distinct insight into true crime stories because of his work as show host and producer of the popular House of Mystery talk show (heard on KKNW 1150 A.M.) Alan knows what questions to ask, revealing the inside stories. He is as good as listening as he is at telling; equally important tools when writing true crime.
Introduction
Do we really know the people around us such as our neighbors, friends, coworkers or even our partners and lovers? Why is it that so many people are blinded to whats right in front of them? Is it that we really dont see it, or is it that we just dont want to see it, like a form of denial? When we consider the face of someone that we know, are we focusing on their eyes, lips or nose or are we looking beyond that to whats inside of them and their minds? Are they kind, true and really loving, or is there a dark side that we really are ignoring or just trying to avoid? It has been said that what we dislike most in others is what we really dislike about ourselves.
Even when we hear things about the people we know, we just dont ask more questions or try to go deep. Perhaps we just dont want to know any more information about that person, or is it that we just dont want to ask the questions because we might find out something about ourselves that we dont want to face? Is it that we really dont want to know, or do we think that we are not going to be able to deal with what we find out? Perhaps when we do learn this information, it will change the way that we live our lives forever. When we are living among psychopaths in our daily lives, is there any way that we can tell them apart from non-psychopaths? Do we have enough skills to be a judge of character that we would know immediately if someone that we were around was a psychopath?
