It would be impossible to list everyone who helped put this project together.
Yes, most authors say that whenever a book is finished, but in this case, those words ring true. So many people who knew and loved Pappy Waldorf took the time to help, contribute pictures, or share memories, that it truly boggles the mind.
However, I would be remiss not to single out a few folks who went beyond the call: Roy Muehlberger, whose passion got this book written, pure and simple; Dick and Jan Erickson, who kept the pot bubbling and opened so many doors; and the two Waldorf girls, Mary Louise Osborne and Carolyn Pickering, who answered every call and lent some photographs that add something very special to the finished product.
Speaking of the photos, longtime Berkeley graphics genius Ed Kirwin deserves a bow, and thanks also to Marty Cullom, Boots Erb and everyone else who offered more pictures than could be used.
Another fellow who deserves a mention is Sports Illustrated senior writer Ron Fimrite. A loyal Old Blue in his own right, Ron edited that great book, "Pappy's Boys," which members of
Page 10
that organization had published for their own satisfaction, and from which we have drawn tons of material.
Thanks, also, to everyone at Addax Publishing Group for believing in this project and hanging tough. Bob Snodgrass and Darcie Kidson deserve medals, and Darcie should get a Purple Heart for taking so many hits right on deadline.
