And what is it that is most beautiful about the psychic-spiritual? The most beautiful, the loftiest thing about it, is the fact that, through the forces of the human soul, what is organic can be transformed into what is soul nature!

Acknowledgements

On the basis that this work is nonfiction, controversial, and potentially problematic, I have not sought to seek permission of the celebrity whose inspirational speech convinced me to at least try my hand at authorship. Thus, even though I was never his biggest fan, his name must remain without.

Thanks to George P. Hansen (The Trickster and the Paranormal) for granting my first ever copyright permission request and for making it so painless. In a similar vein, thanks are also extended to the following publishers / agencies for permissions and advice about fair use: Watkins Media Limited; Chelsea Green Publishing; Thames Hudson; Disinformation Books c/o Red Wheel Weiser; Inner Traditions International and Bear & Company; Anomalist Books; Borderland Sciences; Hill Nadell; The Book Tree; and, of course, the amazing authors, in whose literary footsteps I intend to follow.

It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the impact that H. P. Blavatskys monumental works had in reshaping my thinking, at a time when my mind was ripe for learning. I will also mention the late J. S. Gordon (1946 2013) an author and researcher exhibiting an uncanny ability to write directly and authoritatively on profoundly arcane and esoteric matters. There go literary footsteps I can only ever dream of following.

Authors Note

This is a daring self-published book. I would have very much liked this work to have been published by a reputable UK-based occult publishing house. And there are several well-known and several less well-known authors whose foreword I would have delighted in. These were not to be. This is a stand-alone work, and I alone stand by it. As a consequence of that I can be as self-critical and as self-applauding as I choose to be. To be critical, there will be much wrong with this book. There will be numerous flaws in the style and the layout that will no doubt tickle and appal many a professional author or publisher, should they deign to read the book; especially a book on such rarefied and underground topics as (DMT) dimethyltryptamine and the occult. It is not a work outwardly intended to promote research with entheogenic substances. And while it is not a work of academic rigour or academic excellence, it is a work rigorous in its honesty, and excellent in the willpower it has drawn out of me to make it to publication. This is a book that ultimately invites readers to consider the reality of conscious and intelligent non-corporeal occult beings (some may prefer the term spiritual beings) that occupy what is possibly a parallel occult kingdom (some may prefer the term spiritual kingdom) that is, by and large, unseen by our unaided perception. The word occult, in this work, is generally taken to mean hidden. I am hopeful however that this work will help in rehabilitating that word in relation to the higher esoteric philosophies connoted with the term; rather than its inextricable links with some of the darker, taboo-ridden, nefarious and ignoble ideals which seem to have become subliminally rooted within the popular imagination of modern society whenever occult is mentioned. Finally, it is a book that I hope will give traditional mainstream materialist science a friendly elbow in the ribs; as a way of reminding those overly steadfast adherents to that mode of thought and measure that true science is about asking questions and undertaking practical investigations, it is not about, and it should not be about, authoritarian dogma and closed-mindedness.

Introduction

Nothing could have prepared me for what I experienced, because nobody ever spoke about it. The experience seemed to be related to that mysterious ringing sound in my head that I listened to every night. But nobody ever spoke about that. And it seemed silly for me to ask about something that was so readily apparent. Thus it was as a small child, alone in my bed at night, duelling with sleep, that I ultimately found myself outside of my body, aloft in the midst of my bedroom and able to move freely around the house by passing straight through closed wooden doors. Nothing beats experience, and so it was from a young age that I had experiential knowledge that something on the inside of me, that was me, could exist independently of the bodily me. There was something else that no one ever spoke about, and though I did not know quite what it was, I knew I would know it, if I ever found it. From an innocent young age I was innately certain of one thing, and that was: There is something that someone is not telling me. Those exact words in that exact order where spoken by me once, and never forgotten. They were voiced inwardly as I crossed Gaggs bridge on the narrow tarmac footpath alongside the busy A645, running through my hometown. I was walking ahead of my mother as large heavy-wheeled wagons thundered down that road. Hurtling right by me and whipping up clouds of dust which blew into my eyes. Although that moment was never forgotten, nothing ever came my way that spoke to me directly about that unknown thing that I was sure I was not been told about. Whatever it might be, I felt as though it were something that was very well hidden. There were a few other unusual occurrences that I experienced. But those only served to assure me that there was indeed something that someone was not telling me. There was perhaps one brief instance where somebody said something that hinted at that thing I was not been told about. It was a visit to the GP, .

contains the research experiments and the research findings of my very own research programme. This was undertaken between October 2013 and October 2014. The inception of that programme was borne after I committed myself to investigating the causal nature of the DMT experience with reference to my mildly occult mindset. Each and every experiment was conducted using DMT in the vaporous (inhalable) state. There was no intention to write a book or publish my findings. But it seems that both the remarkable findings and the creativity generated within me would not remain silent or still. Appendix 1 is an esoteric and occult influenced academic style report on the causal nature of the DMT experience, with reference to the pineal gland as a so-called third eye. Its short title is: DMT and the Occult Eye.

will also look very briefly at The Spirits Book by the French author Allan Kardec. I will explain that my mildly occult mindset, alongside the experiential findings of my practical research, has significantly enlarged my frame of speculation beyond things corporeal. With reference to other works, I will point out that ancient esoteric beliefs are currently been reviewed by present day research in controversial scientific subjects. Finally, I will layout the occultists unambiguous position on the actual existence of unseen spiritual life forms.

Nature is full of secret bounty.

The stranger it gets, the more sense it makes. And the more sense it makes, the more imagination it takes to stay on board...

JOHN LAMB LASH, http://www.metahistory.org

As I will explain, magic is never really eliminated from the world. Rather it is shunted to the margins of society...
