Do not imagine that art or anything else is other than high magic!is a system of holy hieroglyph. The artist, the initiate, thus frames his mysteries. The rest of the world scoff, or seek to understand, or pretend to understand; some few obtain the truth.
Aleister Crowley
Wisdom, newly acquired in this way, feels right because it by-passes the everyday ego and resonates powerfully with something already present, deep inside: the true, spiritual self. It feels like a reminder and confirmation of something already known but forgotten.

appendix:
dedication
and
acknowledgments
A s with each book in this series, I would like to first and foremost dedicate this to the Goddess of Witches. She is my constant companion and my truest friend. Following her led me to explore the greatest mysteries of my life and I have no doubt she has many more for me. I also need to thank the God of Witches. Though he doesnt make as large of a footprint in these pages as she, none of this would have been possible without his intercession. It is by he that I was able to bring this final work to life. I lift this entire series to them as an offering of my devotion. May they always reign!
To my beloved Sacred Fires and Black Rose communities. It is for them that I strive to be better and grow, and by their light I am able to do so. Though I share some of our mysteries here, know that those we personally share shall last forever. I will see you where the Magister awaits, somewhere in the circle betwixt the stones.
To my partners in life and magic, Storm and Chas. Without your support through good and bad, I never would have been able to pull this book stuff off. When I was weak, you were my strength. When I was sad, you were my joy. When I was lost, it was you who found me. Our love is a forever love, and no matter what comes tomorrow or in the years to come, I will be there always by your sides.
I would also like to thank my editor Elysia for taking a chance on my work and for always demanding the very best from me. She encouraged me to write about difficult topics and to remain authentic as I explored territory that usually remains untouched. It was with her and a host of other editors and staff at Llewellyn Worldwide that this series came to life, and for that I will be forever grateful.
To Jason Miller for writing the foreword and for being a constant source of inspiration as an occultist. His books are hands-down some of the most important books being written in modern magic, and it is an honor to have him be part of this project.
Lastly, I would like to thank a few departed teachers and writers for their contribution to the craft and their influence on me personally. It is by their spark that the fires of gnosis within me were ignited. To Andrew Chumbley, Michael Howard, Victor and Cora Anderson, and Scott Cunningham. What is remembered lives!
foreword
W hat is a witch? Its a tricky label. For some people, witchcraft is a religion. If you worship the old gods and follow a religion like Wicca, then for these people you are a witch. Other people focus on the craft part of witchcraft and consider the use of folk magic as the defining characteristic of a witch. If you know the magical properties of herbs, the words of spells, and the use of oils and candles and stones, then you are a witch.
