Disclaimer and Notes: (1) No guarantee whatsoever is made to anyone by Summit University Press that the spiritual practice of the science of the spoken Word, including meditation, visualization, dynamic decrees and spiritual healing discussed in this book will yield successful results for anyone at any time. The spiritual practices described in this book do not replace medical treatment or diagnosis. The practice and proof of the science of being rests with the individual. (2) Because gender-neutral language can be cumbersome and at times confusing, we have often used he and him to refer to God or to the individual. These terms are for readability only and are not intended to exclude women or the feminine aspect of the Divine. (3) The soul of man and woman is feminine in relation to the masculine, or spirit, portion of being. The soul is therefore sometimes referred to as she. (4) Some details of the true stories in this book have been omitted or changed to protect the privacy of the individuals. The story A Classic Love Triangle through the Centuries is fictional, written to illustrate karma and reincarnation.
The Afterlife: What Really Happens in the Hereafter is compiled and edited from Elizabeth Clare Prophets lectures and writings.
CHAPTER 1
Understanding the Continuity of Life
The unconscious psyche believes in life after death.
CARL G. JUNG, SWISS PSYCHOANALYST
Y ou have lived in the infinite past. You will live in the infinite future. And therefore the cessation of life in the physical body need not be of concern to you. What is worthy of your greatest concern is that you will have accomplished everything you want to dofor God, for yourself, for your family, for your community, for your favorite causes for humanitybefore that body runs out of steam and gives up the ghost, so to speak. Yet as we see in the news each day, one never knows when this lifes opportunity may be cut short for ourselves or for our loved ones.
Preoccupation with death is the preoccupation with something that is not real. Death is not real. That is what near-death experiences, often called NDEs, tell us. Death is the name given to the process whereby the systems of the physical body shut downthe brain, the heart, and the rest following. But its not a cessation of life or consciousness or the continuity of your soul. Its not that you cease to exist. Its not that youre going to heaven or youre going to hell. Its that you no longer have a physical body. That is the major adjustment.
At this point of shedding the physical body, we have already set the stage for what happens next. Throughout our lives, every thought we think, every emotion we feel, every action we take is done with Gods energy. We perform our actions and deeds by the waterfall of light that comes from our Divine Source into our hearts. And when we receive this energy, it is a crystal clear stream of the water of Life.
We then qualify this stream either with purity or we qualify it with negatives such as envy, anger, fear, doubt, and depression. These discordant vibrations burden others. They also burden us and create an accumulation of negativity. And that negativity will sit there until we turn our hatreds into loves, our hardness of heart into mercy and forgiveness, our warlike energies into peace. Our qualification of Gods energy is cumulative throughout our lifetimes and determines much of what happens to us between lives.
Its very important that we understand this process. There are many variables that determine what happens after you leave the body at the transition called death. I want to acquaint you with a number of possibilitiesand potential pitfalls. I will also explain what you need to know to prepare for them. When you pass on, the vast majority of you will be entering an interim period where you are preparing once again to be on the scene in your next life. A small percentage of people will have fulfilled their reason for being on earth. They will not return but will move on in their spiritual evolution.
Your ultimate goal is to stop reincarnating by achieving union with your Higher Self and your God Presence. People who have had near-death experiences return with a sense of this divine union. They long to keep the bliss that they have experienced on the other side, even while they live out the rest of their renewed opportunity.
Where Do We Go and Why?
I have prayed for many souls after they have passed on, and I am often allowed to see what happens to them. At the conclusion of the Gulf War in the Middle East, I was praying for those who had passed on, not only Americans and our allied troops but those from every sidethe Iraqis, everyone who had participated, and all those innocent civilians whose lives had been taken.
What I found was very interesting. The devout people, men and women in the armed forces, those of every nation who were truly spiritual and had led prayerful lives and devoted lives and had pure hearts, had already been taken by angels to spiritual retreats in the heaven-world. Some of them had such a momentum of light that they were already there. Others were of the light but were not able to get there, so I called to the angels to take these souls, who welcomed the angels and went with them. Some of the very devout Muslims, who were praying next to their bodies, couldnt get anywhere past their bodies. Where their dead bodies lay, there they were on their knees in prayer. They were in perpetual prayer and had been from the moment that they had been killed.
But then I saw a most interesting thing. I saw some soldiers (and they were from every nation, including our own) who had no desire to go into the realms of light. They were very angry that they had been killed, and they were expressing this anger in rage or in cursing or in foul words. They were putting out a tremendous amount of anger, and therefore they were not taken to a place of harmony or rest or learning. This was not only because they werent fit to go there but because they actually denied the angels who came for them. These soldiers said that they did not want to go to a retreat of light where they could learn. This is a great pity because angels are surely our best friends.
